Baton Rouge Community College (BRCC) seeks to fill the position of Coordinator, MVI Challenge Station-Automotive Technician. The Coordinator, MVI Challenge Station-Automotive Technician is located in the Technical and Adult Education Department. This is a full-time position.Position will be opened until it's filled.

REPORTS TO:

Dean, Technical Studies and Adult Education

COMPENSATION:

Minimum Qualifications

Required Educational Experience:

  • High School Diploma

  • Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) Certified

Required Job Experience:

  • 1 year work experience as ASE certified technician

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Strong analytical and organizational skills, detail oriented, and ability to relate to a variety of individuals.

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, time management skills, and the ability to evaluate and determine priority of workload to meet deadlines and goals.

  • Computer skills with experience using word processing, spreadsheet software and email.

  • Must maintain confidentiality of work-related information and materials.

Job Concepts

Summary:

The Workforce MVI Challenge Station-Automotive Technician reports directly to the Dean of Technical Studies and Adult Education. The technician is responsible for testing vehicle emissions for residents in the five LDEQ service areas and will assist with testing procedures for motor vehicle inspection station personnel using the emissions inspection software. The technician will also be responsible for the day-to-day operation, including scheduling appointments, testing vehicles, reporting test outcomes and providing excellent customer service.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Testing vehicle emissions with the current LDEQ testing tools and software.

  • Assist with recruitment, instruction and reporting for motor vehicle inspection personnel using the LDEQ software and BRCC student information system.

  • Record keeping and reporting for LDEQ compliance.

  • Provide excellent customer service.
