The Louisiana Special Schools are experiencing a critical shortage of certified teachers, school counselors, interpreters and educators of the Deaf or hard of hearing.
The LA SPECIAL SCHOOL DISTRICT is seeking applicants for a
DIRECTOR OF CAREER AND TECHNICAL EDUCATION & COMPLIANCE
This position is located in Baton Rouge, LA.
The Director of CTE and Compliance will be an integral member of the District Wide Supports’ leadership team. This position will support the Executive Director of District Wide Supports, with a focus on the efficient operation of the CTE program and overseeing safety and compliance across the district. The SSD CTE program will prepare students for post-secondary options, including the workforce. This position will develop, implement, and enforce compliance strategies across the SSD, while collaborating with various departments to foster a culture of integrity and ethical conduct. This position will also monitor changes in educational laws and regulations that may affect the SSD and communicate these changes to relevant stakeholders.

Minimum Qualifications
Master’s degree in education, special education, or related education/CTE field, preferred.
Must hold or be able to obtain certification in educational leadership in the state of Louisiana, preferred.
Five years administrative or supervisory experience in an organization, school, school district, or program, preferred.
Credentials of the applicant must include strong human relations, leadership, and supervisory skills.
Must possess, or be willing to acquire, expressive and receptive sign language skills.

Develop and administer a comprehensive program of career and technical education.
Continuously appraise and evaluate the total CTE program to ensure that it achieves the established goals of providing the opportunity to prepare for gainful employment.
Maintain current knowledge of all pertinent rules and regulations affecting CTE.
Oversee the CTE Programs of study and all industry certification testing.
Work with the Director of Federal Programs to ensure CTE funding is appropriate, spent in a timely manner, aligned to allowable expenses, and compliant at all times.
Produce materials to educate and promote CTE programs to all stakeholders and potential students.
Work with school counselors, school administrators, and IEP facilitators to appropriately place students in CTE Programs of Study.
Develop, implement, and oversee effective district-wide discipline policies and procedures to ensure a safe and conducive learning environment for all students.
Provide guidance, training, and support for school administration in managing student behaviors.
Administer district-wide programs that create and enforce policies that promote student welfare and academic integrity.
Evaluate the effectiveness of discipline-related programs and initiatives to identify areas for improvement.
Develop, implement, and manage campus safety protocols to ensure the safety of all students, staff, and visitors with the school district.
Collaborates with local law enforcement, emergency services, and community organizations to create a safe educational environment.
Demonstrates appropriate and effective office management skills such as planning, organizing, and implementing.
Exercises good judgment in making decisions.
Maintains complete and accurate records and exercise confidentiality of information in accordance with requirements of the law.
