What you'll be doing...

By joining Verizon as a leader in the Corporate Communications organization, you will have the opportunity to own and drive the story of how we are building a more connected future to power and empower our customer's lives.

This role will oversee all aspects of Global Network & Technology & Verizon Global Services communications and lead a team focused on media relations, employee engagement, thought leadership and reputation management.

Additionally, this individual will be an active participant in crisis and issues communications and an advisor to leaders across the organization.

The ideal candidate will have effective writing and communication skills and the capacity to engage with diverse stakeholders in a fast-paced setting. While this is a senior position in the team, you will be required to take the pen, not just manage the work. Experience working in a global, matrixed organization, as well as experience in executive communications, is considered a critical asset.

You should also exhibit a strong command of key industry issues and trends shaping the tech sector. More than anything, you must be a trusted, strategic counselor to senior leaders with the ability to drive influence.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Develop and execute a comprehensive communication strategy across earned media and owned content that drives company priorities, business goals and product initiatives.

  • Proactively identify opportunities to secure positive media coverage and manage crisis communication when necessary.

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key media outlets, journalists and influencers in the technology and industry sectors.

  • Provide strategic counsel to the executive team, ensuring a consistent and effective leadership message externally and internally.

  • Lead a high-performing communications team, fostering a culture of trust, care and excellence.

  • Work cross-functionally to address the needs of key stakeholders, including investors, customers, employees and partners.

What we're looking for...

  • Bachelor's Degree in a related field or equivalent work experience

  • 10 years+ experience in a corporate or agency setting

  • Expert in corporate communications, public relations, crisis management, and executive communications

  • Knowledgeable of the current state and future application of 5G, AI and emerging tech shaping the industry

  • Highly strategic mindset, including strong instincts and a demonstrated ability to identify media moments and opportunities and to develop, execute and deliver on plans for growth

  • Exceptional leadership skills, interpersonal skills, and relationship management skills with the ability to manage others, as well as across, up and down an organization

  • Demonstrated success as a Communications Business Partner to a C-suite executive in a multi-national, matrixed organization

  • Ability to influence at an executive level through exceptional business acumen, domain expertise, and written/verbal communication

  • Significant experience managing multiple projects with a proven track record of delivering results and achieving targets - ROI-focused at every level

  • Outstanding writing, editing, and verbal communication skills with attention to detail

  • Ability to adapt quickly to changing priorities, pivot quickly, and respond with urgency

  • Experience utilizing digital and social media channels to reach a specific audience

  • Inspirational leader with a track record of hiring and developing world-class talent and fostering a collaborative culture

Even better if you have...

  • Master's Degree

  • Experience in the telecommunications and/or tech sector

Where you'll be working
In this hybrid role, you'll have a defined work location that includes work from home and a minimum eight assigned office days per month that will be set by your manager.
