The Developer role on the Refining IT Process Engineering & Operations team involves supporting the delivery of digital transformation and operational efficiencies across the Refining Business Solutions organization. The individual selected must demonstrate a customer-first mentality, agile mindset, and technical skillset to support and resolve business software challenges. Given the technical nature of the team and the broad range of skills needed, we require self-starters who can learn quickly and work on specific technical tasks with little supervision. The ideal candidate would have a passion for learning new things, the ability to explain complex technologies in a simple manner, and strong intellectual integrity.

This position is eligible for our Bartlesville, OK or Houston, TX locations.

Responsibilities May Include:

  • Designing and developing applications across the Refining Business Solutions organization.

  • Supporting continued advancements across the team (e.g. cloud architecture, security, knowledge sharing, monitoring, and automation).

  • Working with project teams, business analysts, enterprise architects, database administrators, and peer developers to evaluate business problems.

  • Supporting development and team process best practices.

  • Assuring solutions are designed and developed to meet or exceed audit requirements.

  • Leveraging agile development methodologies and processes.

Required Qualifications:

  • Legally authorized to work in the job posting country

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or relevant field

  • 1 or more years of experience in IT

  • Computer Science fundamentals in object-oriented design, data structures, algorithm design, problem-solving, etc.

  • Proficiency in at least one modern programming language such as C#, .NET, Java, or Python

  • Proficiency in at least one modern database technology such as SQL, NoSQL, PostgreSQL, or Oracle

  • Ability to travel up to 10% of the time

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Excellent communication skills

  • Oil and Gas industry experience

  • Proven commitment to continuous learning

  • Experience or training working in Microsoft Azure or AWS cloud platforms

  • Knowledge of software engineering best practices for the full software development life cycle (e.g. agile methodologies, coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations)
