East Bay Community Action Program Vocational Specialist in Barrington, Rhode Island

$2,000 Sign-On Bonus

East Bay Community Action Program (EBCAP) is seeking a full time Vocational Specialist for our Behavioral Health Services Division at our 2 Old County Road location in Barrington, RI. The successful candidate will perform a variety of case management and care coordination duties on an Integrated Health Home (IHH), Assertive Community Treatment (ACT) Team, and/or Community Support Outpatient Team relating to the complete case management in support of clients living with Severe and Persistent Mental Illness (SPMI) who are living independently in the community.

Core duties:

  1. Researches and applies vocational benefit programs to appropriate clients, including, but not limited to: carving in and carving out of jobs, work-readiness programs, performing task analysis, applying for On the Job (OTJ) Training benefits through the RI Department of Labor, Workforce Investment Act (WIA) trainings, and locating internship and externship for both Supported and Non-Supported clients.
  2. Assess each client to determine interests, needs, and abilities in order to match clients with realistic career or employment situations.
  3. Educate clients in their benefits, and to be aware of attainable goals expected by employers.
  4. Track job leads and referrals; assist clients in developing a resume and/or completing applications, and verbally representing themselves to prospective employers. Provide ongoing support to assist clients in maintaining employment.
  5. Demonstrates knowledge of legal issues and civil rights relevant to seeking and maintaining employment.
  6. Effectively accesses and employs community resources toward vocational goals.
  7. Work with clients exemplifies values and best practice guidelines defined in RI's Supported Employment Elements.

The Vocational Specialist requires a Bachelors Degree in Human Services field or an Associates Degree with a minimum of two (2) years of direct experience required. Must have a valid drivers license and good driving record if engaged in travel on behalf of the organization.
