Position Overview We are currently seeking a Senior Environmental Field Technician, who will complete and support fieldwork primarily in Gallatin, TN, as well as other project sites in Tennessee, Kentucky, and Alabama. Projects will include the reading of geotechnical instrumentation such as vibrating wire piezometers, coordinating the work of junior staff members onsite, communication with office personnel, the evaluation of waste material (predominately coal combustion residuals) for consistency and moisture content, interaction with client and governmental personnel, and the coordination of third-party quality control testing of soils and waste materials. This job will be based out of our field offices located on an industrial site in Gallatin, TN and will include the following items: Collecting field data on physical and chemical characteristics of engineering/environmental projects including sediment, soil, surface water, and groundwater samples; field coordination for sample collection; maintaining daily logbooks; and QA/QC review of field documentation. Coordinating and overseeing field work including a variety of drilling / subsurface investigations, preparation of field boring logs, installation of monitoring wells, and providing fieldwork oversight of subcontractors. Collaborating productively with subcontractors and field staff while verifying work scopes and safety requirements are met. Collaborating with project managers on managing multiple site investigations and remediation field projects from work plan development through field effort and report preparation, and overall task coordination. Qualifications include: Bachelor's degree in engineering or geology preferred, but not required. 15+ years of experience with soils, industrial waste materials, and/or geosynthetics Critical thinking and technical writing skills, including the ability to convey information at an appropriate level of communication with varying levels of project staff. Experience using Microsoft Office applications. Conduct field work, including multimedia sampling, drilling oversight, and site inspections in all weather conditions throughout the year. Must be able to work outdoors all year and travel up to 100% of the time, including overnights if not located near the project site location. Must be flexible, adaptable, and able to learn quickly. Preferred Qualifications: OSHA HAZWOPER and First Aid/CPR certifications preferred. Mechanical skills are a plus.
