Summary:

Milieu Therapist is responsible for managing and maintaining a safe, well-organized, therapeutic milieu environment including highly structured group programming. They will provide interdisciplinary support and leadership of therapeutic milieu practices by staff including psychiatric technicians, nursing staff, and individual treatment teams on an assigned inpatient pediatric unit. This would include working with individual treatment teams and multiple disciplines to evaluate antecedents and functions of behaviors and constructing and implementing targeted individual care plans with patients, de-escalating patients facing challenges, attending treatment plan meetings with interdisciplinary teams weekly, supporting daily tasks of group assignments, training, and supervising staff in operationalizing a therapeutic milieu model.

Responsibilities:

  • Practice therapeutic milieu model on assigned unit.

  • Be willing to receiving training to be a Collaborative Problem Solver Trainer and help train new staff in Collaborative Problem-Solving model.

  • Help develop, manage, and maintain group programming structure on assigned unit.

  • Lead huddles on patients that are struggling on assigned unit.

  • De-escalate struggling patients on unit.

  • Lead de-briefing sessions after restraints or seclusion use on assigned unit.

  • Work between individual treatment teams and patients to create and implement any needed individual care plans.

  • Help run groups as able and work with psychiatric technicians to be able to hold productive, therapeutic groups.

  • Complete clinical documentation within established time frames.

  • Attend weekly treatment team meetings while making any recommendations on patient’s milieu needs/treatment.

Other Information:

  • LCSW or LCPC preferred, LCSW-CC or LCPC-C required.

  • Experience with children and adolescents’ therapy is preferred.

  • Knowledge of behavioral modification therapies preferred.

  • Leadership experience preferred.

  • Value relationship building and collaboration.

  • Possess competencies in social, emotional and behavioral assessment and management strategies such as functional behavioral assessment.
