Bangor Savings Bank Banking as a Service (BaaS) Payment Card Engineer in Bangor, Maine

FUNCTION: Working under the direction and guidelines established by BaaS Program Manager, the BaaS Payment Card Solutions Engineer is responsible for designing, building, and maintaining payment card solutions for Fintech clients. The BaaS Payment Card Solutions Engineer possesses a comprehensive understanding of Banking as a Service (BaaS), For Benefit Of (FBO) accounts, use-cases, funds flow, card issuing platforms, industry trends and practices, as well as the technical expertise to proficiently support these products.

The BaaS Payment Card Solutions Engineer works independently on day-to-day tasks with assistance on more complex situations, as needed, from the BaaS Program Manager. The BaaS Payments Solution Engineer consistently supports a commitment to compliance by adhering to all applicable federal, state, local laws and regulations, and Bank policies and procedures.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

Responsibilities:

  • Creates and maintains card payment solutions that meet the use-case of fintech clients.

  • Engineer and develop card payment processing capabilities for money movement for fintech programs.

  • Establish virtual, physical, and tokenized program for individual fintech programs

  • Manage payment card issuing system parameters

  • Reviews and manages card vendor inventory, billing, and expenses. This includes card production and inventory expense, card fraud and bond claim deductibles and card processing expenses.

  • Works directly with our Bank’s Risk Team to review and revise rules that mitigate fraud losses or escalating risk exposure by specific merchant, merchant category code, state, or country.

  • Work directly with various payment card networks to establish reporting for fintech programs

  • Proactively suggest areas for improvement and enhancement, working with managers and peers.

  • Work with industry partners to integrate our systems with other applications or systems.

  • Troubleshoot integration issues and coordinate issue resolution with operations, functional, and technical teams.

  • Stay up-to-date with industry trends, regulations, and best practices related to BaaS, and proactively share insights with internal stakeholders.

  • Collaborate with the BaaS Program Manager to identify new opportunities and contribute to the growth of the BaaS business.

  • Work with other areas of the bank on a recurring basis to identify process improvements/automation as well as any enhanced reporting needs.

  • Establishes additional services as needed.

  • Assists with reporting and/or presentation materials regarding the bank’s fintech card portfolio

  • Monitor onboarding process and conduct follow-ups if necessary.

    Knowledge/Skills/Experience Requirements:

  • Must be a high energy and motivated individual.

  • High school diploma or equivalent required, college, business or banking professional training preferred.

  • Minimum 12 months payment card experience required

  • Excellent business development and customer service skills

  • Solid PC skills required: word processing, spreadsheet software, presentations, graphics

    Physical Demands/Conditions Requirements:

  • General office environment.

  • Moderate lifting (to 35 lbs.) required. Moderate reaching, walking, sitting and standing required.
