Own the planning process for R&D projects, current technological capabilities, and future technology applications for nVent Hoffman & Schroff enclosures product line
Lead approximately 25 engineers and designers and manage a team capable of project leadership, project execution, technical leadership, and multi-functional collaboration; cultivate a culture of increased risk tolerance and speed
Lead the sustaining engineering team passionate about continuously improving and supporting our current and future product offering
Contribute to platform strategy, growth initiatives, and short and long-term goals
Contribute to development and execution of roadmap for engineering IT systems (PDM, CAD, ECO, Part Creation, etc.)
Partner closely with Product Management, Marketing, and Sales to gain insights into emerging trends and devise strategies to capitalize on them through innovative solutions
Drive timely product launches in coordination with Product Management, Sales, Supply, Operations and Marketing
Collaborate with Manufacturing Technology and Process Engineering teams to recommend, rationalize, and drive the acquisition of new equipment or facility modifications to meet the process and production needs of the business
Provide mentorship on custom programs without draining resources focused on new products on an as- needed basis. Partner with non-standard engineering leadership to ensure non-standard products meet appropriate standards
Participate in talent development activities, succession planning, talent risk mitigation, and performance management Develop existing and future leaders for future roles within the company
YOU HAVE:
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical or Industrial Engineering required, MS or MBA preferred
15+ years of relevant engineering leadership experience in manufacturing
10+ years of experience leading engineering teams
Knowledge of sheet metal design
Knowledge of the design of tools and fixtures for component fabrication and assembly
Solid understanding of manufacturing techniques and Value Engineering approaches in metallic and nonmetallic enclosures and cabinets plus related accessories
Experience with new product introduction processes and formalized tools like FMEA, QFD, Lean, etc.
