Job Description

Grace is a leading Manufacturer of Specialty Chemicals and is seeking an experienced Technical Specialist for our Baltimore/Curtis Bay, MD Plant. Grace is seeking a Technician Specialist to join the Analytical Services Center (ASC). This role reports to the Laboratory Chemist at the ASC in Curtis Bay/Baltimore, MD. As a Technician Specialist and a member of a team, you will be required to a rotating shift schedule that consists of 8 hour shifts, 5 days a week. Shifts may vary between 1st, 2nd, and 3rd. Overtime may be required, however expected to be minimal.

Responsibilities

  • The ideal candidate will have strong organization and interpersonal skills with knowledge in basic chemistry, math, and computers.

  • Assists engineers and scientists with a variety of laboratory tasks

  • Performs chemical analyses and scientific tests using both routine and nonroutine techniques in compliance with all safety standards

  • Collects, analyzes and processes laboratory samples

  • Records results of tests, organizes data, performs basic computations, and prepares reports and analyzes using standard procedures and guidelines

  • Operates, maintains and makes basic repairs on laboratory test equipment, apparatus, systems and supplies.

  • Provides technical support to customers.

  • Provides a basic level of product knowledge, assists in trouble shooting, basic start up and proper application

  • Strong written and oral communication skills along with computer experience are important.

  • Has basic skills in an analytical or scientific method or operational process.

  • Other duties as assigned

  • Ability to follow safety protocols and standards working in a laboratory environment with hazardous chemicals

  • Must be willing to wear PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) including but not limited to hard hat, protective eyewear, steel-toed boots, hearing protection and full face respirator.

  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally

Required Qualifications

  • High School education or equivalent (GED)

  • Will typically have at least 2-4 years related technical experience if High school education

  • Will typically have at least 0-2 years related technical experience if BS in related field

Preferred Qualifications

  • Two years (2) of college level course work in related field
