Robert Half Sr. Legal Billing Operations Manager in Baltimore, Maryland

Description

Robert Half is looking for a Sr. Legal Billing Operations Manager to join a large global law firm. Position is 100% remote and can be based anywhere. Compensation is based on location/market and experience level.

Overview of Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the day-to-day Attorney billing/e-billing operations and a nationwide billing team of 33, including supervisors and associates, ensuring accuracy and efficiency daily.

  • Develop, implement, and maintain billing procedures to optimize workflow and improve collection processes.

  • Monitor billing team performance, providing mentorship, training, and development opportunities to ensure high-quality output.

  • Collaborate with finance and legal departments to resolve complex billing issues and ensure compliance with industry regulations.

  • Analyze billing data to identify trends, areas for improvement, and strategies to increase operational efficiency.

  • Prepare and present regular reports on billing performance, KPIs, and other financial metrics to senior management.

  • Lead efforts to upgrade or integrate billing systems, ensuring seamless transitions and minimal disruption to operations.

  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of legal billing standards, client requirements, and industry best practices.

  • Additional tasks or projects as assigned by the Director.

    Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.

  • 8+ years of experience in legal billing operations, with at least 5 years in a management role within a law firm.

  • Proven experience leading large teams (15-20+ min) across multiple locations/time zones.

  • Strong knowledge of legal billing software, e-Billing platforms, and financial systems (Elite, Aderant, 3E etc.).

  • Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.

  • Ability to analyze complex data, generate reports, and provide strategic insights.

  • Strong understanding of regulatory requirements and industry standards in legal billing.
