The Latino Economic Development Center (LEDC) is a private, non-profit 50l(c)(3) community development corporation founded in 1991. LEDC's mission is to drive the economic and social advancement of low- to moderate-income Latinos and other D.C. area residents by equipping them with the skills and tools to achieve financial independence and become leaders in their communities.

Position Overview: LEDC is seeking a Small Business Coach to support our Maryland Small Business Development team in their work providing business support services to aspiring and existing small businesses in Baltimore and Baltimore County. Our Small Business Coaches provide virtual and on-site individualized business consulting, coaching and technical assistance as well as strategic planning, business planning, marketing, sales and operations, as well as strategies to help with client retention and improving operations.

Essential Job Duties/ Responsibilities:

  • Conduct outreach in targeted business corridors, including client visits, community events, and workshops.

``` - Work with LEDC CRM systems, including capture client information, maintain accurate client records through data entry and work with Program Manager to track progress on goals.

``` - Provide one-on-one technical assistance, including coaching and consulting, to aspiring and existing small businesses to help with improving their business planning, financial planning, marketing, sales and other core business skills.

``` - Assist clients getting grant and loan ready;

``` - Help clients navigate the licensing/registration process to start and expand their businesses.

``` - Plan and develop group training, including workshop and cohort trainings, that provides small business owners with the tools and skills needed to be successful.

``` - Recruit and manage expert consultants that can provide in-depth assistance to small business owners and manage external consultant engagements.

``` - Conduct ongoing research about business tools and resources, news that might affect the MD entrepreneurial ecosystem, business licensing, and small business development opportunities.

``` - Connect clients with other LEDC services and available resources from LEDC partners.

``` - Promote LEDC services in different platforms, forums, and events as needed.

``` - Collaborate with Program Manager in the programmatic planning and execution of SBD programs.

``` - Work with LEDC partners where required.

``` - Represent LEDC in trade fairs and other events as necessary.

``` - Other tasks as assigned.

Education and Experience Qualifications Required:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in business preferred.

``` - Experience working with small businesses, consulting for small businesses, or running a small business.

```{=html}

``` - One on one small business coaching experience preferred.

```{=html}

``` - Experience providing small business technical assistance and/or training preferred.

```{=html}

``` - Fluent in English (written and verbal) and conversant in Spanish.

``` - Experience running or working for a small business is a bonus.

```{=html}

``` - Excellent communication and presentat on skills, both written and verbal

``` - Available to work occasional nights and weekends as needed.

``` - Experience and/or familiarity with small business financial management and marketing strategies preferred.

``` - Understanding small business development as a tool for community-based economic development preferred.

``` - Excellent organizational skills with high attention to detail and ability to manage multiple tasks.

``` - Self-starter able to work with limited supervision.

``` - Demonstrated ability to relate to people from a broad range of socio-economic backgrounds, formal education levels, cultures, etc.

``` - Ability to handle a heavy caseload, in an optimistic manner.

Compensation and Benefits

The salary range for this position is $ $47,092 to $54,657 annually, dependent on experience and team budget.
