CareFirst Senior Compliance & Ethics Analyst (Hybrid) in Baltimore, Maryland

PURPOSE:

The Senior Ethics & Compliance Analyst will assist the Director, Ethics & Compliance with maintaining and improving the Corporate Ethics and Compliance Program (the "Program") to ensure its continuing overall effectiveness. The position will focus on integrity in all business transactions and compliance with the Code of Ethical Business Conduct & Compliance (the "Code"), policies, and all laws and regulations that apply to CareFirst. The Senior Ethics & Compliance Analyst will conduct corporate investigations, review conflicts of interest, and plan and lead the implementation of a variety of activities throughout the year to raise awareness of the importance of ethics and compliance.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Maintains an awareness of corporate compliance and ethics practices, developments and trends, notably within a health insurance environment. Consistently seeks opportunities to improve the Program and develop a corporate culture of ethics and compliance

  • Develops, procures, and delivers creative content and useful tools that assists the workforce in understanding their roles and responsibilities acting ethically and complying with company policies including all laws and regulations that apply to CareFirst.

  • Conducts basic/moderately complex investigations, including intake processes, investigation planning and interviews, recommendation and determination, and reporting/insights analysis. Communicates and updates status of investigations to Director, Ethics & Compliance and relevant stakeholders as necessary. Collects and maintains evidence, including testimonial and documentary evidence, for use in drawing investigative conclusions. Draft summary reports detailing findings resulting from investigations for review with leadership.

  • Develops, reviews and revises departmental policies and procedures as needed, but at least annually.

  • Promotes an environment that supports CareFirst's core values serving as a role model for ethical behavior to foster a culture of compliant and ethical behavior.

  • Assists with the Conflict of Interest Disclosure & Compliance Certification campaign, including assigning and tracking completion of new hire and annual Conflict of Interest Disclosure & Compliance Certification forms.

  • Assists with review of Conflict of Interest Disclosure & Compliance Certification forms. Drafts conflict of interest response memos and management plans.

  • Creates, plans, coordinates, and implements activities for increasing the visibility and awareness of the Program, including Ethics and Compliance Week activities, as well as ongoing activities throughout the year. Develops, procures, and delivers creative content and useful tools that assist the workforce in understanding their roles and responsibilities acting ethically and complying with the Code, policies, and applicable laws and regulations.

  • Assists with audits examining our Program by collecting and submitting documentation as requested/required.

  • Various duties as required to support the Director, Ethics & Compliance and the Program.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education Level: Bachelor's Degree.

Licenses/Certifications Preferred:

  • CHC - Certified Healthcare Compliance within 1 Year or

  • Certified Compliance & Ethics Professional (CCEP) within 1 Year

Experience: 5 years knowledge of ethical, corporate compliance with demonstrated ability to apply elements of the Federal Sentencing Guidelines for organizations and experience with compliance and/or regulatory or legal programs.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities (KSAs)

  • Knowledge of compliance program development and maintenance as well as experience with corporate investigations and conflicts of interest.

  • Strong research and analytical skills.

  • Ability to work on multiple projects and shift priorities.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications.

  • Must be able to meet established deadlines and handle multiple customer service demands from internal and external customers, within set expectations for service excellence. Must be able to effectively communicate and provide positive customer service to every internal and external customer, including customers who may be demanding or otherwise challenging.

Salary Range: $67,176 - $133,419
