Job Title: Safety Specialist

Job Description

As a Safety Specialist, you will be responsible for identifying and informing management of compliance issues, risks, and improvement opportunities through weekly and monthly audits. You will facilitate investigation processes, maintain required paperwork, and enter information into internal databases in a timely manner. Additionally, you will perform observations and audits, train and assist others including Area Managers and team members, and participate in process improvement activities.

Responsibilities

  • Identify and inform management of compliance issues, risks, and improvement opportunities through weekly and monthly audits.

  • Facilitate investigation processes.

  • Maintain required paperwork to comply with company regulations.

  • Enter information in internal databases in a timely manner.

  • Perform observations and audits.

  • Train and assist Area Managers and team members to complete their responsibilities.

  • Perform specific training as required by the Manager.

  • Participate in process improvement activities and manage actions to completion.

  • May have additional responsibility for fire prevention, hazardous waste management, or other related activities depending on the business unit and location.

Essential Skills

  • Minimum of 1 year in an Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) related field or a bachelor’s degree in a related field.

  • Knowledge of OSHA regulations, specifically 29 CFR 1910.

  • Experience using Microsoft Word and Excel in a professional capacity.

  • Experience maintaining confidentiality in matters involving security and/or personnel issues in the workplace.

  • Available to work flexible shifts including days, nights, and/or weekends.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or higher, preferably in a related field.

  • Strong communication, teamwork, analysis, judgment, and customer focus skills.

  • Experience leading and managing a team.

  • Ability to analyze accident data, new processes, and machinery for potential concerns and conduct job hazard and job analyses.

  • Experience in response and currently holds relevant certificates.

  • Experience in Worker’s case management.

  • Passion for safety.

  • Experience in healthcare or industrial settings.

  • Experience with Workers Compensation.

Work Environment

Training Schedule: Monday through Friday – 08:00am-04:30pm. Shift: Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday 11:00am - 9:30pm.

This is a Contract position based out of Baltimore, Maryland.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $37.00 - $37.00
