Johns Hopkins University Research Program Coordinator in Baltimore, Maryland

Johns Hopkins Affective Disorders Center is seeking a Research Program Coordinator. The Research Program Coordinator will be responsible for the assistance of clinical research programs, including the recruitment of research subjects for a wearable technology study on sleep and an inpatient outcomes study, both under the supervision of Dr. Collica. Research participants include those with various psychiatric diseases including depression and bipolar disorder who are admitted to the Johns Hopkins Adult and Young Adult Inpatient Units on Meyer 4.

Specific Duties & Responsibilities

  • Coordinate all activities of a research study to assure validity of findings.

  • Ensure adherence to protocols.

  • Keep track of all admissions to the Young Adult and Adult Mood Disorders Units on Meyer 4 by accessing the electronic medical records and participating in rounds as needed.

  • Consent appropriate patients to participate in the studies.

  • Facilitate MyChart set up and completion of psychiatric questionnaires for admitted patients on their electronic devices or an iPad provided by the department.

  • Facilitate Oura ring app and Redcap set up.

  • Be responsible for saving/storing /managing data and consent forms.

  • Oversee record management for research study.

  • Set up database using Excel, Access, or similar system.

  • Follow-up with patients 6 months after discharge to remind them to complete a questionnaire and assist them in doing so if necessary.

  • Keep a registry of all patients consenting for the studies.

  • Assist the PI in preparing and organizing IRB-associated materials and assist with organization, management, and analysis of the data.

  • May assist in coordinating study meetings for coordinating center.

  • Prepare minutes of each group meeting.

  • Participate in study meetings and provide update on protocol implementation status and make recommendations on operational issues.

  • Help prepare manuscripts and presentation materials and conduct literature searches for ongoing and future studies.

  • Perform miscellaneous related duties as assigned.

Special Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment is critical.

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team; self-motivated, takes initiative to begin and complete projects; excellent organization skills, careful attention to detail is a must; professional attitude and oral communication, including over the phone or email; mature outlook.

  • Computer skills in word processing, database management, and internet proficiency Experience with Excel strongly preferred.

  • Ability to provide transportation for self to and from work and training sites as required (mileage will be reimbursed per JHU approved rate).

  • Ability to interact with faculty and staff on research teams, in clinical programs, and with educational outreach initiative.

  • Enthusiasm and willingness to learn about the work of the department as well to acquire new technical skills as needed.

  • Excellent organizational skills to work effectively in an environment that requires balancing multiple assignments.

  • Ability to multitask, prioritize, organize, and manage work assignments.

  • Many technical skills are required for the position, including work Excel, REDCap, and Canvas Learning Management System.

  • Ability to interact effectively with individuals at all levels and from diverse cultures.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in related discipline.

  • Additional related experience may substitute for required education, to the extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula.

Starting Salary Range: $17.00 - $30.00 HRLY ($25.50 targeted Commensurate with experience )
