Johns Hopkins University Research Integrity & Outside Interests Specialist in Baltimore, Maryland
The Divisions of Research Integrity (RI) and Outside Interests (OI) occupy a unique position in the School of Medicine (SOM). These divisions develop and manage implementation of policy in the areas of conflict of interest, conflict of commitment, misconduct, and research integrity. We are seeking a Research Integrity & Outside Interests Specialist who will provide complex administrative support to the staff in these divisions and report to the directors of RI and OI. The Specialist will serve as the initial point of contact for RI and OI. The position will ensure the administrative day-to-day responsibilities are addressed in an appropriate and timely manner. These responsibilities include, but are not limited to, scheduling critical and often confidential meetings that involve multiple participants, maintaining complex calendars, routine correspondence, compiling and maintaining data, and special projects as assigned.
Specific Duties & Responsibilities
Research Integrit y
Assist with processes related to misconduct cases.
Maintain confidential and sensitive files for research and professional misconduct cases.
Coordinate scheduling of sensitive, confidential meetings or conference calls and prepare materials as needed.
Work with outside vendors (e.g., data forensics contractors, court reporting services) to coordinate services.
Send and track case-related correspondence and other materials.
Provide complex administrative support for the Responsible Conduct of Research (RCR) program.
Coordinate logistics for annual lecture series, division/department presentations, occasional conferences, and other related meetings, including dates, venues, A/V, and catering.
Independently coordinate attendance for lecture series attendees to generate CME and LMS credit using online management systems, as well as completion information related to other components of RCR program.
Prepare materials for division/department meetings and presentations.
Develop reports regarding compliance with RCR program requirements.
Provide general administrative assistance.
Independently review and triage or respond to e-mails sent to general division account.
Assist with maintenance of web content.
Outside Interests
Understand and apply OI policies and procedures to assist with reviews of disclosures.
Independently triage disclosures of outside activities and conflicts of interest as they are received.
Facilitate reviews of disclosures in accordance with institutional and office policy and procedures.
Provide complex administrative support for the Annual Certification process.
Develop weekly reports regarding completion rates, exceptions, issues, etc.
Independently identify and resolve discrepancies found in Annual Certification responses.
Manage OIs relationships with the Offices of Research Administration, Technology Ventures, and Human Subjects Research.
Review relevant notifications of potential conflicts of interest in research and follows up with investigators and/or inventors accordingly.
Compile and maintain data to ensure compliance with OI policies and relevant regulations.
Provide e-mail and telephone support for faculty members regarding disclosures, policy questions and other requests as needed.
Explain fundamentals of OI policies and relevant regulations to faculty and staff
Coordinate logistics for monthly meetings and annual retreats of the Committee on Outside Interests.
Update and maintain the content of internal OI standard operating procedures on a continuous basis.
Minimum Qualifications
High School diploma or graduation equivalent
Five years progressively responsible administrative experience
Additional education may substitute for required experience, to the extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree.
Experience in an academic medical institution, research environment, or research affairs office.
Experience with Site Executive.

Starting Salary Range: $21.25 - $36.90 HRLY ($50,992 targeted; Commensurate w/exp.)
