Johns Hopkins University Research Assistant in Baltimore, Maryland

The Wendy Klag Center for Autism and Developmental Disabilities at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health seeks a full-time Research Assistant (RA) . The RA will work on a large national study about child health and development, with a cohort of families affected by Autism Spectrum Disorder. Participant interaction will occur via Zoom, with families on both East Coast and West Coast time zones. This is a hybrid position with on-site work 3 days a week, with option for remote work 2 days a week. Some weekend or evening hours may be necessary to accommodate participants, particularly those who live on the West Coast.

Specific Duties & Responsibilities

  • Will consent with families and work closely with them to collect survey data via REDCap

  • Ensure data quality

  • Collect biospecimens remotely

  • Administer an iPad-based cognitive assessment called the NIH Toolbox.

  • Will work with confidential information and must ensure security of documents and data

Special Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

  • Excellent organizational skills to juggle tasks

  • Document steps and guide families through the protocol

  • The ability to develop a rapport with families

  • Excellent phone and email communication skills

  • Attention to detail

  • Initiative and ability to complete training and tasks

  • Collaborate and work independently on a busy team

  • Must be comfortable working with different web-based technology systems, such as Zoom, study databases, OneDrive, and iPads

  • Must be patient, flexible and comfortable working with children and families, particularly those with autism or developmental delays

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in related discipline.

  • Additional related experience may substitute for required education, to the extent permitted by the JHU equivalency formula.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Spanish Fluency/Mastery (highly preferred)

  • Human subjects research experience, with CITI certification

  • REDCap skills

  • Willing to commit to at least 1 year of employment

Classified Title: Research Assistant

Role/Level/Range: ACRO40/E/03/CD

Starting Salary Range: $17.20 - $30.30 HRLY ($48,000 targeted; Commensurate w/exp.)

Employee group: Full Time

Schedule: Generally Monday to Friday 9 am to 5 pm, with flexibility required to self-schedule appointments on evenings or weekends to meet the needs of study participants, particularly those on the West Coast
