Founded in 1797, the Spring Grove Hospital Center is the second oldest, continuously operating psychiatric hospital in the United States. Operated by the Maryland Department of Health, the hospital is a 397-bed psychiatric facility serving involuntarily committed and forensic patients. This position is responsible for compounding and dispensing medications and pharmaceuticals to patients and performs other related pharmacy services. Actively monitors medication use in individual patients and populations. * Conducts drug utilization reviews. * Provides quality improvement services necessary for accreditation, certification or maintenance of licenses and permits. * Provides direct patient care in accordance with clinical privileges. * May precept students. * May perform administrative duties, such as staff scheduling, supervision of pharmacy technicians, and coordination of drug utilization reporting. * May coordinate programs or projects related to the use and monitoring of medications. * Monitors and orders drugs and supplies. * Provides weekly on-call coverage once a month. * Perform other duties as assigned. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS EDUCATION:Bachelor's degree in pharmacy. Doctoral degree in pharmacy (PharmD) preferred. CERTIFICATION/LICENSURE:Current Maryland licensure in good standing to practice as a pharmacist or a federal district licensure where the work will be performed upon hire.
