OVERVIEW
The Packaging Electrician troubleshoots, maintains, and repairs all production, packaging and ancillary equipment throughout the plant. The Packaging Electrician lays out, assembles, installs, connects, maintains, repairs, and tests complicated electrical and closely allied equipment such as such as starters, electrical motors, switches, switchboards, electrical circuits, fixtures, control equipment, motors, generators, etc., using tools such as volt meters, mega and amp meters, etc.
DETAILED ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Plans major and difficult installations from blueprints, sketches, and specifications
Installs, connects, and repairs complicated interlocks
Splices high voltage wires and solders high voltage connections
Adjusts electrical equipment such as timers, brakes, relays, VFD’s, etc.
Cuts, bends, threads, assembles, and installs conduit and fittings
Tests circuits for continuity, proper connection, and load, using testing equipment such as amp meters, voltmeters, watt meters, etc.
Reads and interprets blue prints, sketches, and schematic drawings, as required
Plans minor lay-outs; determines materials and supplies needed in accordance with applicable codes
Provides lock-out and or mechanical isolation for operation and maintenance tasks
Provides a combination of both Instrumentation and electrical trade assistance in any failure or prevention of failure in regards to the operating equipment
Provides the technical data required by operational personnel to make sound decisions in the best interests of the company
Works with operations personnel to provide feedback, select equipment, evaluate designs, and develop project budgets on proposed projects
Maintains safe working conditions of all equipment, conducts weekly safety audits, and reports all unsafe and or failing or potential to fail equipment
Performs other duties such as assigned
WORK EXPERIENCES
2+ years of experience as an Industrial Maintenance Electrician in a production environment
Must have knowledge of 480 Volt 3 Phase distribution systems
Must have knowledge of industrial electrical/equipment installations
Ability to diagnose and repair electrical mechanical problems that arise
Must be able to troubleshoot AC and DC drives and control systems
Must be familiar with PLC controls. PLC programming skills a plus
Possess a working knowledge of hydraulics and pneumatics
Computer skills in such programs as Microsoft Office and Outlook a plus
Have knowledge in technical drawings and the ability to interpret said drawings
Ability to work a 12-hour rotating shifts
EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
High school education or equivalent
Electrician Trade designation
