The Department of Obstetrics, Gynecology and Reproductive Sciences at the University of Maryland School of Medicine (SOM) is recruiting for a full-time genetic counselor. Working with our medical providers, the successful candidate will be responsible for prenatal and preconception genetic counseling. The successful candidate will be hired as Instructor in the Department of OBGYN and active in the UM SOM program for the Masters in Genetic Counseling. In addition to teaching and supervision of trainees in Genetic Counseling, GCs participate in teaching the trainees in medicine and OB/GYN with the opportunity to participate in scholarly activities Position highlights: * Collaborate with clinical experts in genetics and OB/MFM * Strong clinical outpatient practice and inpatient consult service, including screening follow-up, outreach clinics across Maryland, and combined genetics-focused specialty services * Great teaching opportunities with medical students, residents, fellows, graduate and genetic counseling students Successful candidates should be able to demonstrate: * Strong commitment to patient care and teaching * Ability to create a collaborative partnership with stakeholders reinforcing positive working relationships with theopportunityto build a strong community-based clinical program within the context of an academic environment * Professionalism, effective communication, patient safety, and continuous practice improvement * Master’s degree from a graduate program accredited by the Accreditation Council of Genetic Counseling and/or active board certification or board eligibility by the American Board of Genetic Counseling * At least two to three years of relevant experience strongly preferred * At least one year of academic experience To apply, please complete the online application and include a letter of intent, CV, and three professional references (with clinical practice knowledge of the applicant from within the past five years) with their contact information.
