Here’s what the opportunity supported through our TGS Talent Acquisition Team requires:
As a GCP Database Services Architect you will work with various teams while focusing on different projects that are critical to our business needs. You will get an opportunity to work in a fast-paced environment, learn and take on new challenges across the data stack.
Job Responsibilities include:
Analyze, design, architect and execute on database migration and/or conversion projects based on underlying design patterns from heterogenous legacy databases (Oracle, SQL Server, MySQL, PostgreSQL) to GCP Cloud SQL, Alloy DB, Cloud Spanner etc.
Hands-on development work leveraging Change Data Capture (CDC) Replication tools such as Qlik Replicate, Golden Gate, Striim, Attunity etc. and streaming tools such as Datastream, Dataflow, PubSub, etc.
Hands-on development work in database migration and/or conversion tools and methodologies such as Database Migration Assessment, Database Migration Service, Ora2Pg etc.
Hands-on development work in developing and refactoring PL*SQL code (stored procs, functions etc.) as part of database migrations and/or conversions to ensure Applications can continue to function with little to no modifications.
Hands-on development work with Kubernetes Engine, Docker Containers, Anthos Clusters, and other Serverless products.
Hands-on development work with application automation testing via JUnit, REST APIs, Postman etc.
Hands-on development work in CICD DevOps pipelines leveraging GitHub, GitLab, BitBucket etc.
Hands-on development work in storage lifecycles, disaster recovery (RTO/RPO) and SRE.
Work closely with Application owners, Business stakeholders, Product Managers, Scrum Master and DevOps Engineers to execute the migration.
Collaborate on database architecture models to address performance and scalability issues involving access to massive amounts of data leveraging database partitioning, sharding, load balancers etc.
Minimum qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in computer science or equivalent practical experience.
Hands-on DBA experience in Oracle, SQL Server, MySQL, PostgreSQL or DB2.
Strong PL*SQL development experience.
Has extensively worked on migrating on-prem legacy databases (Oracle, SQL Server, MySQL, PostgreSQL or DB2) over to cloud databases (GCP preferred).
Has strong working understanding of GCP Cloud databases such as Cloud SQL, Alloy DB, Spanner, Firestore, Firebase, BigTable, BigQuery etc.
Experience with one or more general purpose programming languages including but not limited to: Java or Python.
Preferred qualifications:
GCP Professional Certification in one or more areas: Cloud Architect, Cloud Database Engineer, Data Engineer, DevOps Engineer
Full-stack experience and understanding of various ways full-stack applications interact with underlying databases.
Ability to learn other coding languages as needed.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
