The University of Maryland, Baltimore (UMB) Office of Educational Support and Disability Services (ESDS) within the Division of Student Affairshas an exciting opportunity for anEducational Support &Disability Services (ESDS) Coordinator. Under supervision from the Director of ESDS, the position will be responsible for providing services to UMB students requesting accommodations.The Coordinator is responsible for collaborating with UMB students and stakeholders to navigate all aspects related to the student’s accommodation request, provide ongoing support and guidance throughout their academic careers, and support ESDS’ educational, engagement, and outreach efforts.The Disability Services Coordinator will engage in an interactive process with the student, interpret documentation to recommend, and coordinate reasonable accommodations for students to ensure equal access to their education.The successful candidate will demonstrate excellent communication skills, the ability to manage highly sensitive, confidential information in a compassionate and discreet manner, and execute complex administrative tasks while coordinating accommodations, and offering direct support to students with disabilities. _Benefits Information_ UMB offers acomprehensive benefits packagethat prioritizes wellness, work/life balance, and professional development, along withadditional exciting perksthat employees can take advantage of. All employees are expected to work primarily physically within the State of Maryland. _Primary Duties:_ * __Work collaboratively with UMB students and schools to coordinate and implement each student's individualized academic accommodations appropriate to the student's disability assessment, federal and state regulations, and best practices in higher education. Assist with registration and completion of the academic accommodations process through ESDS. * Coordinate and assist with student intake interviews with the purpose of evaluating accommodation eligibility within ADA guidelines and to provide reasonable accommodations. * Coordinate documentation reviews to assist in supporting eligibility for disability services and accommodations. * Communicate and collaborate with appropriate faculty and staff members in compliance with privacy regulations when coordinating or implementing student accommodations. * Coordinate individual student accommodation needs with faculty and staff to meet academic requirements, when needed. * Coordinate notetaking assignments for students. Assist in the recruitment and payment process for notetakers. * Maintain database of assistive technology and assist students with assistive technologies for accessibility and inclusion (i.e., Kurzweil software, Otter.ai, Live Scribe pens). * Maintain the ESDS website including updates and the integration of online tools and resources designed to facilitate education access for students with disabilities. * Function as a liaison to independent contractors (i.e., captioning, American Sign Language interpreters, transcription services, textbook remediation) to coordinate accommodations. * Assist ESDS and UMB leadership with designing, maintaining, and updating educational access procedures. * Assist ESDS with initiatives relating to disability and education access. * Perform other related duties as assigned. Education:Bachelor's degree in a related field such as disability services, education, social work, or counseling. Experience:Relevant work experience that includes proficiency with student support or disability services in an academic or higher education environment preferred. Two years work experience preferred. Other:May consider a combination of directly related experience and education.Clery act designated job as campus security authorities (CSA) member and will comply with Clery Act requirements.
