/Director/, Maryland Brain Tumor Program The University of Maryland Marlene and Stewart Greenbaum Comprehensive Cancer Center (UMGCCC)in collaboration with the Departments of Neurology, Neurosurgery, and Medicine are jointly recruiting the next/Director/of the Maryland Brain Tumor (MBT) Program. The recruitment aligns with the accelerating integration of the University of Maryland Medical System (UMMS), linking care networks across a growing State-wide academic healthcare system, and the University of Maryland research enterprise, encompassing Neurosciences, Bioengineering, Genomics, Pharmaceutical and Cancer Sciences. The recruited leader will have a primary faculty appointment in either the Department of Neurology, Neurosurgery, or Medicine based on the candidate’s training, certifications, and expertise and will report academically to the respective Department Chair. The Director will also have programmatic reporting relations with theUMGCCC Executive Director,the institutional leader for the University of Maryland School of Medicine Program in Oncology. He/she will work closely with UMMS Cancer and NeuroscienceNetwork Directorsto expand and advance the brain tumor clinical service and related trials, educational opportunities, and translational discovery-based research within the University and Medical Systems. This recruited leader is expected to provide visionary leadership across multiple disciplines, build upon the success of an established clinical and research program, and increase the impact and reputation of the program nationally and internationally.The ideal candidate will foster the following: · /Specialized Expertise/: This individual will have extensive clinical experience in treating patients with brain tumors, conducting independent research, and developing innovative treatment protocols across multi-disciplinary teams and environments. · /Discovery Research/: A demonstrated, consistent record as a principal investigator and collaborator on federally funded research initiatives with high impact publications. The candidate will have a record of accomplishments in extramural grants and/or industry funding. · /Clinical Excellence/: Align multi-disciplinary clinical practices with the latest evidence-based guidelines and therapies and lead initiatives for system wide and regional expansion through the University of Maryland Cancer and Neuroscience Networks. · /Educational Leadership/: The director will play a pivotal role in recruiting, training, and mentoring clinical and research faculty, medical students, residents, and fellows in disciplines related to brain tumor management. · /Multi-disciplinary Collaboration/: The director must be able to facilitate collaboration among multiple disciplines (neurosurgery, oncology, radiology, radiation oncology, pathology, and others), fostering a team-based approach to patient care and research with an understanding of the unique Maryland All Payer-Global Budget Review model. · /Community and Patient Engagement/: The individual will be a state-wide figure of prominence, serving as a liaison between the medical school, community, and statewide/national advocacy organizations (e.g., National Brain Tumor Society) raising awareness about brain tumors and engaging patients, caregivers, and families in MBT program initiatives. The expected rank for this position will be /Associate Professor/or/Professor/(tenure track) depending on experience and qualifications.
