The University of Maryland, Baltimore (UMB) Institute of Human Virology (IHV)has an opening for aCommunity Program Coordinator. This position will identify, link to care, and coordinate services for individuals newly diagnosed as HIV and those who are previously-diagnosed HIV and currently out of care. Encounters will happen in the hospital, as well as in the larger Baltimore Metropolitan Area community. All employees are expected to work primarily physically within the State of Maryland. * *Essential Functions: * Coordinate day-to-day activities of the assigned community program linkage to care activities. * Build and maintain strong relationships with community members and partners. * Keep records of program activities: progress, status, and outcomes, and prepare reports for management. * Coordinate internal and/or external community activities and functions of a designated program (project #) to ensure that goals and objectives for specified community program is accomplished in accordance with established priorities, time limitations, funding limitations or other specifications. * Recruit program participants, members and volunteers utilizing most appropriate promotional or marketing methods, such as individual letters, brochures, or presentations. * Assists in the preparation of proposals for funding and/or funding continuation from outside sponsors. * Interact and maintain liaison with students, faculty, staff, and outside/community agencies in facilitating program objectives. Build and maintain strong relationships with community members and partners in order to grow the programming. * Coordinate the identification of newly diagnosed or previously-diagnosed HIV individuals. Assessment of psychosocial barriers and needs. * Create and implement linkage plan including referrals to needed resources required to support engagement into medical care and case management. * May coordinate, monitor or supervise the activities of work study students, volunteers, and contractual employees. * Perform other related duties as assigned. Education:Bachelor's degree. Experience:One (1) year administrative or program coordination experience. Preferred Experience:experience working in the field of HIV/AIDS providing direct services to clients, including psychosocial support services, case management, psychosocial assessment, insurance application, and resources coordination. Familiarity with HIV resources in Baltimore, Ryan White standards of care and documentation, use of electronic medical records, and cultural sensitivity. Other:Related experience to program may be substituted for education. Knowledge, Skills, Abilities: Knowledge of position requirements. Knowledge of all applicable requirements, regulations, and laws. Skill in effective use of applicable technology/systems. Ability to effectively communicate both verbal and written thoughts, ideas, and facts. Ability to work cooperatively with others and independently.
