Position Title: CAT Scan Tech

Position Description: Sunday - Tuesday 7a - 730p Perform CT procedures, interact with radiologists, physicians, and nursing staff. Counsels’ patients on the radiographic procedures to be performed. Assists physician with biopsies and drainage. Secures patient consent for the performance of intravenous injections. Position patients on equipment. Operates scanner and related equipment in the examination of patients Active Maryland License Registered Radiologic Technologist certification – ARRT CPR is required Completion of two years of occupationally specific education or an Associate’s degree in radiology technology At least 1 full year of experience

The CAT/CT Scan Technologist produces computerizedtomographic scanner radiographs of specific areas as ordered by aphysician. These cross-sectional imagesprovide detailed information about soft tissues, blood vessels, and bones,which are essential for accurate diagnostics. The CAT/CT Scan Technologist obtains patient history, explains standardprocedures, and addresses patient concerns. The CAT/CT Technologist alsoperforms a variety of specialized tasks involved in the performance of CTscans.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Performs complex specialized tasks associated with theoperation of CT scanners and related equipment in accordance with prescribedradiation safety procedures

  • Positions patients for CT scans using immobilization andprotective equipment as necessary

  • Appropriately sets the controls of the relate equipment;monitors equipment and patient; makes adjustments as necessary

  • Assists radiologist with imaging procedures, starting IV's,and injecting contrast, if applicable

  • May dispense oral contrast to patients for CT scans

  • Assists radiologist with interventional CT procedures

  • Evaluates CT scans for technical quality, collate processedimages in sequence of exposure and appropriately label

  • May be responsible for scheduling patients for proceduresand assisting with some clerical functions

  • Charges procedures and supplies used to the patient record appropriately

  • Loads and operates power injections for contrast mediaadministration

  • Maintains accurate patient records for all proceduresperformed; maintains patient confidentiality and adheres to all HIPAA standards

  • Adheres to all Amergis and worksite rules, policies andprocedures

  • Other duties as assigned

Minimum Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent

  • One (1) year of experience as a CAT/CT Technologistpreferred.

  • Appropriate valid state licensure in diagnostic imaging

  • A.R.R.T. (American Registry of Radiologic Technologists)Certification, if required by state regulations or contract specifications

  • Complies with all relevant professional standards ofpractice

  • Participation and completion of Amergis’ Competency programwhen applicable

  • Current CPR if applicable

  • TB Questionnaire, PPD or chest x-ray if applicable

  • Current Health certificate (per contract or stateregulation)

  • Must meet all federal, state and local requirements

  • Successful completion of new hire training as applicable tojob site

  • Understand patient confidentiality and HIPAArequirements

  • Ability to effectively elicit/provide information to andfrom appropriate individuals (including, but not limited to, supervisors,co-workers, clients) via strong communication skills; proficiency in theEnglish language is required

  • Computer proficiency required

  • Must be at least 18 years of age
