Position Details:

The Carpenter performs a variety of duties related to general maintenance work. This includes building new walls and ceilings, modifying and maintaining all interior spaces, exterior building spaces, and roofs. This is an essential position for the maintenance and operation of the campus and will respond to emergencies.

Essential Functions:

Performs routine maintenance and repairs of structural components of campus buildings. Conducts inspections of buildings, including but not limited to roofs, doors, walls, windows, ceilings, and floors, to identify and correct deficiencies. Responds to repair requests, troubleshoots problems, and make necessary repairs.

Operates, maintains, and ensures adequate supplies, tools, power tools, and equipment. Removes walls, repairs walls, installs partitions and steps; assists with various renovations. Prepares walls for paint and paints walls. Installs and furnishes dry wall, wood paneling, and siding. Installs and repairs wood, ceramic, resilient, carpet, or cement floors. Reviews blueprints and work orders to determine materials needed for assigned work.

Participates in all essential weather related operations including snow and ice removal. Participates in on-call rotations, and responds to emergency calls.

The work schedule is Monday through Friday from 7:30am to 4pm.
