Utilities Service, LLC Assistant Field Service Engineer in Baltimore, Maryland

Description

Are you looking for an exciting new opportunity to advance your career in electrical engineering? Asplundh Electrical Testing (AET) is seeking highly skilled and motivated Relay Technicians, Sr. Relay Technicians, and Field Engineers to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for providing technical and engineering support during fieldwork, as well as preparing internal and client reports.

Responsibilities:

  • Install, adjust, and troubleshoot relays with technical capabilities

  • Support the sales effort by assisting with labor estimates and job walks

  • Remain up-to-date with all safety and technical training; attend company sponsored safety training when required

  • Collect field data and perform arc flash studies, coordination studies, and short circuit analysis

  • Provide technical insight concerning substation systems and electrical power systems

  • Adhere to all company, industry, and client safety protocols and standards ensuring our “ Safety First ” priority

  • Install, troubleshoot, commission, test, and maintain protective relaying equipment

  • Calibrate and perform functional tests on microprocessor-based protective relays for high-voltage substations

  • Conduct end-to-end relay testing using Doble ProTest software or Protection Suite

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Must be 18 years of age or older

  • Professional skills in protective relay logic, protection schemes, write-ups, and documentation of test plans related to full commissioning substations

  • Knowledge of Doble ProTest or Protection Suite

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills together with a proven commitment to safety and customer service

  • NETA certification is strongly encouraged

Education & Experience:

  • Minimum of 0-3 years of hands-on experience installing, maintaining, testing, and repairing protective relays in high-voltage substations

  • Experience installing, maintaining, testing, and repairing circuit breakers, transformers, switchgear, and similar equipment

  • Two-year degree or technical school graduate; or relative field experience
