The Division of General Internal Medicine at the University of Maryland School of Medicine is recruiting a full timeacademic nocturnist. This position will provide overnight coverage on teaching and non-teaching services. Primary responsibilities include direct patient care on non-teaching services, resident supervision for teaching services, transplant medicine, and the consult/co-management service. The University of Maryland Medical Center has a closed ICU and a closed hospitalist staffed intermediate medical care unit. Procedure opportunities are available but not required. POCUS training is available. Shifts are 12 hours, 6-on 8-off scheduling or flexible to accommodate 156 shifts per year including 26 weekends. UMMC, ranked in 2020 as one of the “Best Hospitals” by/US News & World Report/, is a referral center for the most critically ill patients in the Mid-Atlantic region. Candidates must be board certified/eligible in internal medicine and eligible for an unrestricted license to practice medicine in the State of Maryland. This position also requires a medical degree from a recognized accredited domestic university (or foreign equivalent), a strong commitment to patient care and education, and the ability to work well in a team setting.
