The Maryland Transit Administration (MTA) invites you to apply today to be considered for a position that provides customer service to the citizens of Maryland every day. The MTA is one of the largest transit systems in the United States and is seeking dynamic and energetic individuals to join the MTA team.
This is an MTA position-specific recruitment for a generic job classification. The resulting list of eligibles will be used under TSHRS to staff this MTA position or function only. You will need to reapply for any future generic or job-specific recruitment for this job classification.
The Maryland Transit Administration (MTA) is recruiting for Supervisor Systems Technology/Radio. The Supervisor of Systems Technology/Radio provides support and coordinates the implementation and oversight of projects for all MTA non-operating departments, transportation modes and the MTA Police. Maintains all records, forms and reports as required by the Federal Communications Commission "General Radio Telephone Operators" License and Site Licenses. Oversees the Systems Technology /Radio Shop staff that provides agency wide audio and video support and is responsible for the oversight and monitoring of the day-to-day activity which includes troubleshooting, repairing, diagnosis and the overhauling of MTA communications, electronic, logic equipment, digital equipment, electro-mechanical devices, and the maintenance of CCTV systems and Public Address/LED systems. In addition to managing the System Technology/Radio Shop staff, will oversee and manage multiple contacts and vendors that repair and maintain communications equipment including six (6) communication tower sites and backup generators.
The current vacancy is located at the Maryland Transit Administration (MTA) in Baltimore, Maryland.
The current work schedule is Monday thru Friday 7:00 am-3:30 pm
Qualifications
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education: Graduation from a accredited high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate AND satisfactory completion of a program in a formal vocational or trade school or other formal training in one or more of the following fields:
High voltage electrical power and related control systems.
Electronic communications systems.
Railroad signaling and train control systems.
Electronic fare collection systems.
Railcar electronic systems.
Other complex electro-mechanical or electrical systems.
Experience: Five years minimum experience in one or more of the fields listed above. Experience must also include working with complex digital and analog circuitry.
SUBSTITUTION INFORMATION:
Candidates may substitute U.S. Armed Forces military service experience involving staff work related to the administration of rules, regulations, policies, procedures and processes, or overseeing or coordinating unit operations or functioning as a staff assistant on a year-for-year basis for the required education and experience.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:
Employees in this classification are subject to substance abuse testing in accordance with the Code of Federal Regulations 49-Federal Department of Transportation Drug Alcohol Testing Protocols and Federal Transit Administration Alcohol Testing Rules.
Employees are subject to call-in 24 hours a day and will be required to provide the agency with a telephone number where they can be reached.
Employees are required to maintain a reliable communication link (telephone or beeper) for the purpose of emergency call back requirements.
Employee may be required to work evenings, night shifts, and weekends.
Employees in this position are considered "Essential Employees" and will be required to sign and agree to all policies and procedures relating to "Essential Employee" status.
