The Maryland Transit Administration (MTA) invites you to apply today to be considered for a position that provides customer service to the citizens of Maryland every day. MTA is one of the largest transit systems in the United States and is seeking dynamic and energetic individuals to join the MTA team.

The Maryland Transit Administration (MTA) is recruiting for an Emergency Dispatcher Supervisor I. This is the supervisory level of police and/or fire telecommunications, surveillance monitoring and routine and emergency public safety dispatch work in the Maryland Transit Administration (MTA). Employees are responsible for overseeing the review, coordination, transmission, interpretation, tracking and recording of law enforcement and general administrative information to ensure the safety of MTA police officers and fire rescue personnel, MTA employees, and the traveling public. The work involves the operation of 700 MHZ statewide multichannel radio systems, security monitoring systems and computerized law enforcement and administrative information retrieval. Employees in this classification supervise subordinate dispatch/telecommunications operators and/or police monitoring facility technicians and receive general supervision from an Emergency Dispatcher Supervisor II or other police administrator. Employees in this classification may be required to work regular or rotating shifts, weekends, holidays and extended hours, and are subject to call in based on staffing needs. Work assignments may be performed at various MDOT locations within the State, requiring that employees provide their own transportation to one or more job sites. Oversees, operates and interprets surveillance information from police monitoring consoles. Monitors the burning of video clips and information for court proceeding to include civil and criminal matters. Oversees monitoring and tracking of Modal transit operations to provide real-time information regarding emergency incidents to responding police officers.

Qualifications

Education: Graduation from a standard high school or possession of a high school equivalency certificate.

Experience: Three years of experience working in a police and/or fire telecommunications center performing routine and emergency public safety dispatch work using multi-channel radio systems and retrieving computerized law enforcement and administrative information.

Note: U.S. Armed Forces military service experience as defined under the Experience Requirement of the Minimum Qualifications may be substituted for the experience on a year-for-year basis.

Licenses & Certifications

  1. Employees in this classification may be assigned duties which require the operation of a motor vehicle. Employees assigned such duties will be required to possess a motor vehicle operator's license valid in the State of Maryland.

  2. Employees in this position must maintain the following certifications:

    Criminal Justice Information System (CJIS)

    National Crime Information Center (NCIC)

    Public Safety Telecommunicator Certification (PST1)

    Maryland Electronic Telecommunications Enforcement Resource System (METERS)

    Certified Training Officer (CTO)
