Job Description:

Parsons is looking for an amazingly talented Principal Electrical Designer to join our team! In this role you will get to conduct and support the delivery of complete electrical networks/systems in major Energy and Utility projects.

What You'll Be Doing:

  • Energy, utility, petrochemical, or industrial background with previous experience on infrastructure projects understanding of the requirements for Electrical Networks (Medium Voltage and low voltage), distribution substations, feeder pillars and service.

  • Must have good knowledge of National Electrical Code, IEEE, ANSI, IESNA, and NFPA

  • Carry out complete Electrical Systems discipline designs to required standards and quality.

  • Develop Electrical deliverables for all phases of a project including: conceptual design, preliminary design, and detailed design

  • Develop the design of medium and low voltage facility power distribution systems from the electric utility interface point.

  • Develop the design of emergency and uninterruptable power generation and distribution systems.

  • Develop typical Electrical design drawings such as: single line diagrams; power, lighting, grounding, fire alarm, and other systems plans; electrical area classification plans; electrical equipment arrangement plans; cable tray layout plans and sections; conduit and cable schedules; motor control schematics.

  • Develop typical Electrical databases/spreadsheets such as: motor and electrical load lists; panel schedules.

  • Coordination with other Discipline Engineers as applicable.

  • Coordinate with Project Managers and customers concerning project requirements and timelines.

  • Ensure statutory and regulatory requirements are met in all designs.

  • Stay updated with relevant technical developments within the discipline.

  • Understand the contract and scope of project deliverables.

  • Provide regular work status updates, including risks or concerns, to Project Managers

  • Attend and contribute in team and project meetings as required

What Required Skills You'll Bring:

  • 2-year technical degree or certificate of completion from an accredited designer/drafter course (or equivalent work experience)

  • At least 5-10 years of overall design experience.

  • Good experience in the development of electrical power system plan and detail drawings

  • Advanced proficiency in relevant software including AutoCAD and related design software

  • Must have thorough knowledge of industry practices and regulations.

  • Excellent written and oral communication.

Salary Range:

$40.05 - $70.10
