As the Communications Advisor you will:

  • Help design and implement internal communications strategy to inform, align and inspire members of the workforce to achieve business unit objectives .

  • Provide communications counsel to company leaders.

  • Develop communications plans and compelling content that engages employees and external stakeholders through presentations, speeches, videos, social media posts, internal social network messaging, executive messages to staff, internal and external website content, and other creative approaches. 

  • Execute tactical plans including video production and script writing, monthly performance messages, large-scale employee meetings, and other communications channels in support of business leaders.

  • Provide support in responding to local/regional media inquiries and proactive media outreach.

  • Identify and prepare for controversial issues affecting the company. Develop and oversee review and approval process for associated materials like prepared statements, key messaging documents, Q&A, etc.

  • Develop and maintain collaborative relationships with business unit colleagues to ensure proper alignment and coordination of messaging, awareness of upcoming issues and events and cooperation on external stakeholder engagement.

  • Monitor news coverage and social media content related to the company and the industry .

    Requirements

  • 8+ years of experience in communications, public relations or related field .

  • Bachelor’s degree .

  • Communications  expertise  and excellent writing skills. 

  • Proven ability to m anage communications from strategy development through tactical execution and  demonstrated storytelling prowess across a variety of situations and platforms that call for innovation, creativity and flexibility in content creation. 

  • Strong collaboration, teamwork and relationship building skills . 

  • Demonstrated ability to work productively in a team where diversity is valued , inclusion is an absolute necessity, and the ability to partner with business leaders and colleagues.

  • Project management and organizational experience . 

  • Demonstrated project management skills.

  • Ability to  identify and analyze business challenges; develop communications strategies that address these challenges; construct thorough communications plans and tactics that enable leaders, employees and stakeholders to align on solutions; and execute tactics creatively using company communication channels and vehicles.

    Preferred Qualifications

  • Working knowledge of the energy industry, with exposure to or understanding of the various business units in an integrated energy company. 

  • Understanding of business and government trends in California

The selected candidate’s compensation will be determined based on his or her skills, experience, and qualifications. Please note that the compensation and benefits listed below are only applicable to successful candidates who are hired onto the local United States payroll.

    The anticipated salary range for this position is $131,000 – $226,300
