Description
Supervise, provide technical guidance, interpret, manage projects/tasks and/or participate in activities to maintain operational performance and support civil engineering projects with focus on utilities and townsite maintenance. Activities include, inspection, measurement, interpretation, analysis, coordination, problem solving, forecasting, reporting, and may include project design support. Review and improve the performance of existing water management systems.
Apply working knowledge of engineering principles to assigned engineering projects using data measurement and collection, analysis, interpretation, and problem solving.
Provide guidance and instruction to multidisciplinary teams assigning tasks as necessary. Review, improve, and apply townsite facility and utility management systems to achieve good practice. Review reports for design and operations projects and provide recommendations to site team and project consultants.
Manage projects and serve as subject matter expert (SME) on large/complex site planning/construction, expansion, or modifications.
Contribute to site strategic planning and budgeting efforts for designated civil engineering areas.
Develop and/or review scopes of work, evaluate proposals, draft formalized internal requests for funding, and administer contracts with vendors for the provision of services and equipment as approved and required.
Identify opportunities for improvements and determine associated value for risk reduction matters.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in an appropriate Engineering discipline and five (5) years related experience in engineering or related field, OR
Master’s degree in an appropriate Engineering discipline and three (3) years related experience in engineering or related field.
Knowledge of principles and practice of civil, architectural, water resources, and or water/quality/treatment.
Demonstrate technical competence through design and/or operations experience in at least one of the following work areas: water systems infrastructure, facilities/buildings construction/reconstruction.
Proficient in MS Office and other engineering tools (CAD, analytical, mapping)
Certified Engineer-in-Training or equivalent
Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, to a diversely educated audience
Self-motivated, energetic, able to execute, and client-service oriented
Able to prioritize tasks and work well under pressure
Ability to develop and maintain awareness of occupational hazards and safety of yourself and others
Skilled in following safety practices and recognizing hazards
Preferred Qualifications :
Advanced degree or Professional Engineering (PE) Certification preferred
Experience with large material handling systems (mixing, conveying, slurry pumping, stacking) in a mining environment, specifically alternative tailings technologies of pumping highly thickened tailings, crushed rock and mixed material conveyance, and/or filtered tailings conveyance and stacking
At least 5 years of relevant work experience
Experience with facility/building maintenance and management
Experience with cost estimating for civil projects, project scheduling, and project controls
Operational and maintenance experience with utility systems
Experience with metal mining operations, especially as a material handling design, construction, and/or operational subject matter expert, focused on conveyance and stacking of tailings and waste materials
Able to research and analyze information of relatively small scope and minimal difficulty and draw valid conclusions
Able to evaluate and implement new methods and techniques in design projects and operational support
Superior interpersonal, as well as written and oral communication skills, with diverse teams of technical and non-technical staff
Skilled in related engineering software (AutoCAD/Civil 3D, ArcGIS, GoldSim), programming languages
Criteria/Conditions:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, sit, demonstrate manual dexterity, and work on elevated platforms
Occasionally may be required to lift moderately heavy objects (up to 30 pounds) during the workday
Personal protective equipment is required when performing work in a mine, outdoor, manufacturing or plant environment, including hart hat, hearing protection, safety glasses, safety footwear, and as needed, respirator, rubber steel-toe boots, protective clothing, gloves, and any other protective equipment as required.
What We Offer You
The estimated annual pay range for this role is currently $98,000-$137,000. This range reflects base salary only and does not include bonus payments, benefits or retirement contributions. Actual base pay is determined by experience, qualifications, skills and other job-related factors. This role is eligible for additional discretionary and incentive payment considerations based on company and individual performance.
