Will work as a team member for projects on existing parks. Under the general direction of the Archeological Services Team Lead the Archeological Project Manager performs advanced (senior-level) archeological, research, and cultural resource management work. This position is responsible for coordinating all cultural resources survey and management activities on parcels of land that may be acquired to become new state parks. Functions as a member of planning teams for new parks. Will make visits to candidate land parcels. Provides technical assistance and support to land acquisition and planning staff and performs archeological fieldwork. Responsible for developing scopes of work, budgets, and performs oversight of contracted archeological work to be conducted by cultural resources management firms. Develops cultural resource management plans for new state parks so that they may be managed properly when opened to the public. Manages project budgets. Works closely with the State Parks Historian and other members of the Preservation Services Team. Reviews construction planning documents for the creation of new state park facilities and potential for impact to archeological sites. When not working on land acquisition projects the candidate will serve as a project archeologist or crew member on projects conducted by the Archeological Services Team on projects across the state parks system. This position is responsible for ensuring agency compliance with state and federal antiquities laws, including the Texas Parks Wildlife Department (TPWD) Code, the Antiquities Code of Texas, and the National Historic Preservation Act. Works under minimal supervision, with extensive latitude for use of initiative and independent judgment. Qualifications: MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Education: Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Master's degree in Anthropology, Archeology, Applied History, Historic Preservation, or related field.
