Position SummaryThe Technical Writer creates and maintains documentation that includes, but is not limited to, Policies, Procedures, Work Instructions, Job Aids, Reference Tables, Training Curriculum, Talk Tracks and Announcements. The Technical Writer is responsible for generating innovative ideas for content while working both independently and collaboratively as part of a team. The position researches job roles, services, technology, and concepts to be documented and easily understood by a broad audience.

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in technical writing, demonstrating a proven track record in structuring complex information in a clear, concise, and logical manner for optimal reader comprehension.

  • Demonstrated ability to generate innovative content ideas and workflow solutions that enhance user engagement and understanding.

  • Proficient in analyzing and developing procedural documentation such as work instructions, reference guides, and job aids, ensuring alignment with business objectives and operational requirements.

  • Experience working cross-functionally to manage content lifecycle including annual reviews, updates, and approvals.

  • Proven expertise in managing timelines and documentation inventories to maintain high standards of accuracy and completeness.

  • Strong leadership skills in project settings, adept at leading meetings, coordinating with department heads and subject matter experts to capture requirements, and translating complex processes into structured documentation.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to probe effectively to uncover unstated needs and to establish a resourceful business network that facilitates information flow and problem-solving across departments.

  • High level of responsiveness and professionalism in communication, ensuring timely action on emails, calls, and team messages and ensuring prompt delivery of completed and approved documentation.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Certifications in Technical Writing or related disciplines.

  • Experience with major LCMS (learning content management system) platforms and a strong understanding of document control practices in a regulated environment.

  • Experience in migrating content to new LCMS (learning content management system) and building content on WYSIWYG (What You See Is What You Get) development platforms.

  • Expertise in ensuring compliance with organizational standards and regulations such as HIPAA, including managing documentation formatting, disclaimers, and terminology.

  • Demonstrated ability to deliver value-added enhancements to documentation, such as advanced formatting, integration of hyperlinks, and development of decision-support tools like if/then tables to improve user accessibility and decision-making.

  • An Associate’s or Bachelors degree preferred, preferably in Technical Writing, Communications, English, or a related field.

Education

  • HS Diploma or equivalent degree PLUS 4 or more years of total experience required

Pay Range

The typical pay range for this role is:

$43,700.00 - $107,200.00

This pay range represents the base hourly rate or base annual full-time salary for all positions in the job grade within which this position falls. The actual base salary offer will depend on a variety of factors including experience, education, geography and other relevant factors. This position is eligible for a CVS Health bonus, commission or short-term incentive program in addition to the base pay range listed above.
