Assists and is trained to Install, maintain, and repair plant equipment and utility systems. Assists in performing periodic inspections of major mechanical and chilled water systems. Installation may include welding in accordance with ASME and AWS standards. Accuracy in all phases of work performed.Assists and is trained to perform preventive or corrective maintenance tasks incidental to the operation of mechanical or utility tunnel distribution systems in accordance with established procedures. Assists and is trained to remove, fabricate, and install insulation systems in accordance with established specifications. Wears respiratory protection as required by task. May be required to work around hazardous materials with appropriate controls.Maintains records of equipment repair. Works in conjunction with trades or utility personnel in support of systems within power plant, chilling stations, utility tunnels or other underground utilities. Demonstrates excellent communication and interpersonal skills.Paints plant equipment in accordance with equipment manufacturers recommendations or procedures. Assists and is trained to complete work orders as required using automated systems.Cleans and maintains all equipment and work areas.Assists and is trained to operate cranes, forklifts, and personnel lifts. Inspect, erect, utilize, and break down scaffolding as necessary in support of plant maintenance and operational duties.Follows all University and UEM safety policies and procedures, takes required safety training, identifies and reports safety hazards. Identifies, reports, and corrects safety hazards. Performs work tasks in a safe manner, wears the proper personal protective equipment, and reports near misses and incidents.Paints plant equipment in accordance with equipment manufacturers recommendations or procedures.Perform other related functions as assigned. Work is performed in accordance with normal trade practices and is inspected for conformity to standards, quality and quantity by journey-level employees or supervisor. Attends staff meetings, safety training and meetings. Complete plant operation and maintenance training courses. Training certification required within 18 months. May report to the PRC Campus. Drive University vehicles. Maintain acceptable driver rating as established in Policy: UTS157 Section 2.5.4. Required to carry UT-provided cell phone during work hours and on-call hours.
