Wayfair LLC seeks Software Engineer III (Multiple Positions) in Austin, TX:

Job Duties: Design, develop, and maintain highly scalable eCommerce systems. Develop, modify, and build machine learning and AI applications, working with several large and complex databases. Develop back-end applications and RESTful web services using technologies such as Python, SQL, Java, PHP or related technologies. Perform SQL database development, performance tuning, and data extraction, transformation and loading (ETL). Optimize and work on Search technologies (Solr, Elastic or Lucene). Define code test plans and perform unit, integration, and functional testing. Produce robust, elegant and scalable software that performs well under high load. Direct system testing and validation procedures. Use creative resources to solve complex business challenges, understanding our needs and risks, and making appropriate technology decisions. Leadership responsibilities include goal-setting, roadmap creation, project management, sprint/scrum management and backlog grooming. Mentor less-experienced software engineers. Position is based in Austin, TX office; however, telecommuting may also be allowed. (TXSESS082024) Salary: $155,709 to $206,707.

Minimum Requirements: Masters degree, or foreign equivalent, in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, Mathematics, or a directly related field plus two (2) years of software engineering experience. In the alternative, will accept a Bachelor's degree, or foreign equivalent, in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, Mathematics, or a directly related field plus five (5) years of progressive, post-bachelors experience in software engineering.

Special Skill Requirements: Experience must include two (2) years in at least six (6) of the following (experience may be gained concurrently):

1. Designing back-end applications and production systems at scale including fault tolerance, reliability, performance, and security;

2. Full stack SDLC with at least one modern programming language including Java, PHP, Python, or JavaScript;

3. Version control using GIT or SVN;

4. Defining test plans and performing unit testing;

5. Designing back-end applications using SQL database development including designing queries, triggers, stored procedures, performance tuning, or data ETL;

6. Relational database design and conceptualization;

7. Interfacing with business product leaders and engineers to gather requirements and translate requirements into system design;

8. Performing ETL in MSSQL, Oracle, or MySQL environments including data replication/backup;

9. Developing with search technologies such as SOLR, Elastic, or Lucene;

10. Designing and building Big Data pipelines using Sqoop, Kafka, Spark, HDFS, or Hive;

11. Utilizing Docker and Kubernetes to deploy application code into production environments;

12. Performance tuning in MSSQL, Oracle, and MySQL environments.
