Amazon Senior Software Development Engineer, K8s - EKS in Austin, Texas

Description

As a Senior Software Engineer in the Elastic Kubernetes Service (EKS) team you will help us deliver the mission of making AWS the best place to run containers. At Amazon EKS, we are building a core set of functionality that will allow our customers to create and use Kubernetes at scale. You will be part of an exceptional team moving the needle towards making containers as the next generation compute platform. This is an opportunity engineer systems on a massive scale, and to gain top-notch experience in distributed systems and cloud computing.

You will be solving challenging technical problems, often ones not solved before, alongside with peers with remarkable technical expertise. This position involves on-call responsibilities, typically for one week every two months. We don’t like getting paged in the middle of the night or on the weekend, so we work to ensure that our systems are fault tolerant. When we do get paged, we work together to resolve the root cause so that we don’t get paged for the same issue twice.

Basic Qualifications

  • 5+ years of non-internship professional software development experience

  • 5+ years of programming with at least one software programming language experience

  • 5+ years of leading design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience

  • Experience as a mentor, tech lead or leading an engineering team

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge of professional software engineering & best practices for full software development life cycle, including coding standards, software architectures, code reviews, source control management, continuous deployments, testing, and operational excellence

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent
