Reliability & Compliance Engineer works closely with ERCOT Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to ensure that ERCOT ISO meets or exceeds the reliability performance requirements in accordance with ERCOT Protocols and Operating Guides. Reviews ERCOT Market Participant performances, provides reports, and works with entities to improve or mitigate performance issues. Reviews, provides comments, and recommends Protocol and Operating Guide revisions to ensure they meet reliability needs and support compliance with the NERC Standards, and ERCOT Regional Reliability Standards. Ensures System Operations policies and procedures are in place as needed to demonstrate compliance with the requirements. Coordinates with relevant personnel in each group to ensure the appropriate business processes are in place and documented in the form of descriptive processes or procedures

JOB DUTIES

  • May respond to inquiries and/or provide assistance and/or guidance to lower-level workers.

ADDITIONAL JOB DUTIES

  • Identifies the performance measures and documentation requirements related to ERCOT regulatory standards requirements

  • Selects, models and implements the performance measures and documentation requirements related to the all ERCOT regulatory standards requirements

  • Monitors and reports ERCOT ISO and Market Participant Reliability performance in accordance with ERCOT Protocols and Operating Guides

  • Monitors ERCOT ISOs Reliability performance in accordance with the FERC, NERC and Regional Standards, and coordinates with ERCOT SME's efforts to mitigate issues and improve Reliability performance

  • Verifies ERCOT ISO meets its reporting requirements for regulatory requirements

  • Conducts the performance and regulatory review of System Events in accordance with the PUC and NERC Event Analysis requirements, and coordinates any efforts to improve performance and associated mitigation plans other reports to be reviewed • • include Relay Mis-operation Reports, DCS events, Frequency Response reports and other Operational Reports

  • Monitors and initiates (as required) Protocols and Operating Guide revisions within the role of the reliability and regulatory expert for the ERCOT ISO

  • Checks that revisions to Protocols and Operating Guides support NERC Standards, both current and future versions

  • Provides support to ERCOT staff, PUCT and Market Participants, with respect to improving Reliability and Compliance

  • Responds to PUCT and NERC requests for information and coordinates responses with the appropriate ERCOT SME's including the development, implementation, and ongoing maintenance of routine reports

  • May attend national and ERCOT regional working group and committee meetings as required which includes but not limited to PDCWG, ROS and TAC

  • Works with SMEs and other stakeholders to review FERC orders, NERC Reliability Standards, Regional Reliability Standards, and ERCOT Protocols and Operating Guides changes and prepares comments and recommendations on behalf of ERCOT ISO

  • Supports business groups and SMEs to develop, implement, and manage routine audit documentation demonstrating compliance to FERC orders, NERC Reliability Standards (693 and CIP), Regional Reliability Standards, and ERCOT Protocols and Operating Guides

  • Assists ERCOT ISO personnel with the preparation and participation for NERC and other audits

  • Updates compliance tools, track effort and progress of audits and investigations, and manage library of audit documentation

  • Evaluates and reports ERCOT ISO and Market Participant Reliability performance in accordance with ERCOT Protocols and Operating Guides

  • Rates ERCOT ISOs Reliability performance in accordance with the FERC, NERC and Regional Standards, and guides ERCOT SME's efforts to mitigate issues and improve Reliability performance

  • Ensures ERCOT ISO meets its reporting requirements for all regulatory requirements

  • Ensures that revisions to Protocols and Operating Guides support NERC Standards, both current and future versions

  • Makes recommendations and gives consultation to ERCOT staff, PUCT and Market Participants, with respect to improving Reliability and Compliance

  • Anticipates PUCT and NERC requests for information and develops responses with the appropriate ERCOT SME's including the development, implementation, and ongoing maintenance of routine reports

  • Attends national and ERCOT regional working group and committee meetings as required which includes but not limited to PDCWG, ROS and TAC

  • Collaborates with business groups and SMEs to develop, implement, and manage routine audit documentation demonstrating compliance to FERC orders, NERC Reliability Standards (693 and CIP), Regional Reliability Standards, and ERCOT Protocols and Operating Guides

  • Prepares ERCOT ISO for NERC and other audits and participate in the audits

  • Coordinates with relevant personnel in each group to ensure the appropriate business processes are in place and documented in the form of descriptive processes or procedures

  • Confirms ERCOT ISOs Reliability performance in accordance with the FERC, NERC and Regional Standards, and guides ERCOT SME's efforts to mitigate issues and improve Reliability performance

  • Develops, defends, and ensures that revisions to Protocols and Operating Guides support NERC Standards, both current and future versions

  • Works with SMEs and other stakeholders to review ERCOT Protocols and Operating Guides changes and prepares comments and recommendations on behalf of ERCOT ISO

  • Leads business groups and SMEs to develop, implement, and manage routine audit documentation demonstrating compliance to ERCOT Protocols and Operating Guides

  • Updates compliance tools, track effort and progress of audits and investigations, and manage library of audit documentation

EXPERIENCE

  • Requires minimum 2 years job related work experience in excess of degree requirements

Salary and level will be based on overall experience as determined by ERCOT.

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE

  • Experience with SQL Queries, BI Cognos, and/or MS Excel

  • Understanding of ERCOT Protocols and Operating Guides

  • Report writing experience

  • Experience with EMS

EDUCATION

  • Bachelor's Degree: Engineering or related field (Required)

  • or a combination of education and experience that provides equivalent knowledge to a major in such fields is required

WORK LOCATION:

  • This position is Hybrid. Employees will be required to be on-site in Taylor, TX at least 2-3 days per week, or more, as needed based on the business needs as determined by management

  • On-site schedules are flexible or may be rotated based on business needs as determined by the Manager

  • Remote work is required to be performed from your Texas residence.

  • Employees may opt to work on-site more than required or 100% of the time

Expected Salary Range:

$82,344 - $131,720
