Job Description
AECOM is currently seeking a Public Involvement Specialist to join our Austin, Tx. office and assist with promoting AECOM's regional project work throughout the Austin and Central Texas region!
The AECOM Public Relations Specialist will aid in the creation and implementation of communication and engagement strategies and plans to reach internal and external audiences, including the public, stakeholders, partners and media, and government officials, across a variety of channels and methods.
In addition, this role will support the organization by working together with team members, peers in other specializations, and project leadership, to deliver strong results across each phase of a project.
Job Summary
Collaborating with Project Managers on strategies, best practices, and potential risks associated with engaging stakeholders for input on projects.
Preparing documents and materials for use in communications.
Assisting with implementation of stakeholder engagement and communication strategies, including meeting organization and facilitation.
Coordinating with other AECOM staff to prepare graphic displays and layouts for public information.
Engaging and informing stakeholders, communities, and residents on public or private projects in-person and/or virtually, or through written materials.
Exercising sound judgment when communicating with internal and/or external clients or customers.
Assisting with logistics for public events and meetings as well as evaluating and selecting venues and vendors.
Assisting in development of presentations for meetings with various stakeholders within a client’s brand guidelines.
Provide acute attention to detail in the development and tracking of stakeholder communications.
Experience with or enthusiasm for learning new tools that enhance virtual collaboration and communication with stakeholders and the public for surveys, websites, social media, etc.
Drafting content for e-newsletters, stakeholder communication, fact sheet and exhibit content, and other materials as needed for QC review by the Project Manager.
Preparation and summary support for documentation of stakeholder meetings and public events.
Other tasks as directed by the client directly and/or Project Manager to support public involvement during the planning and construction phases for projects underway.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications:
- BA/BS + None or demonstrated equivalency of experience and/or education
Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in communication studies, Public Relations, English, Public Administration, or related degree.
Strong written and verbal communication skills required; experience in communicating complex and technical concepts to a public audience, and to effectively address and report on questions, needs, and concerns, is greatly preferred.
Job requires ability to establish effective working relationships with the media, employees, managers, citizens, appointed and elected officials.
Ability to work in a team environment and to work independently.
Computer proficiency is required.
Ability to work alone or with a graphics team to prepare presentations, reports, exhibit boards, factsheets and other educational materials is preferred.
Experience in planning for and managing public and stakeholder events, including meetings, open houses, workshops and seminars, is preferred.
English/Spanish bilingual is highly desirable.

Offered rate of compensation (Austin, Texas regional) will be based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location. The salary range for this position is $60,000.00 - $85,000.00
