Principal Product Manager Technical (L7) - Predictive Modeling, Forecasting, and Causal Inference

We seek a dynamic and experienced Principal Product Manager (L7) to lead our efforts in delivering advanced portfolio of products focused on predictive modeling, forecasting, and causal inference. This position plays a crucial role in shaping the future of our hiring, and labor planning products by providing Amazon leaders with reliable forecasts, predictions, and causal inferences to make informed decisions and labor plans. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in product management and data science, with expertise in predictive analytics, time series forecasting, and causal inference methodologies.

Key job responsibilities

You will collaborate with Economists, Applied Scientists, Engineers, and business line customers across the company to define product vision. You make choices on feature selection, science, engineering, and evaluation while judging various inference techniques. You are driven by data and collect metrics for model evaluation, performance, adoption, coverage, and quantifying impact. You discover potential in business domains to utilize emerging technologies like GenAI, latest scholarly research, etc. You write Vision docs, PRFAQs, and 3YP documents to gain sponsorship from the leadership team for execution. You manage stakeholders and engineers to align everyone on the common goal and deliver your product vision. Your drive adoption and quantify the impact of the products. You have a passion for enhancing employee experience through predictive modeling and continuously seeking innovative ways to deliver for customers, while rigorously measuring the impact of your work and constantly iterating.

A day in the life

You will:

• Think Big to define and drive the product vision for Predictive Models that can be leveraged in the Hiring and Labor Planning domains.

You will influence cross-functional teams, including economists, applied scientists, engineers, and designers to develop cutting-edge products in predictive modeling, time series forecasting, and causal inference.

• Define feature selection and evaluation to improve model accuracy and performance

• Use your knowledge in advanced statistical techniques, machine learning models, and causal inference methods to inform product decisions and improvements.

• Dive deep and partner with engineering and science team members and partner teams to write detailed business and technical requirements

• Deliver 3YP, Vision, PRFAQs, and BRD docs.

• Own end-to-end product lifecycle.

• Create quick and strong stakeholder relationships

• Influence priorities and business strategy through quantitative and qualitative contributions.

• Drive adoption of the products and measure impact.

• Improve products and programs through direct interaction with stakeholders and users.

• Continuously absorb and share knowledge about the latest product and scientific developments relevant to the ML/AI space

• Mentor and support other team members

About the team

The PXT Central Science Team uses economics, behavioral science, statistics, and machine learning to develop process improvements and products that simultaneously improve Amazon and the lives, well-being, and value of work of Amazonians. We are an interdisciplinary team that combines the talents of science and engineering to develop and deliver solutions that measurably achieve this goal.

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree

  • Experience owning/driving roadmap strategy and definition

  • Experience with feature delivery and tradeoffs of a product

  • Experience technical product management

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working directly with Engineers on product enhancements

  • Experience in project management methodologies, business analysis, or process improvement

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $161,900/year in our lowest geographic market up to $279,900/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
