Our Materials Engineering Product Design team is dedicated to developing and integrating the novel materials that empower innovative designs across all Apple product lines. We work with the utmost attention to detail, directly impacting the design of products loved by millions around the world! Within Materials PD, the Polymer Materials team features cast of sharp, collaborative team members who cover all aspects of adhesion science. We are seeking an accomplished Materials Engineer with expertise in adhesives to help take Apple products to the next level. Could this be you?

Description

In this critical role, you will play a key part in providing Apple customers with the best possible user experience by driving the development and deployment of new, innovative adhesive technologies. These technologies include impact-resistant, reworkable, bio-based, and debond-on-demand. Heavy engagement in adhesive development, adhesive recommendation, interface optimization for adhesion, material characterization, application process support, and failure analysis is required. You will spearhead projects involving viscoelastic materials, PSAs, tapes, reactive film adhesives, and primer adhesive technologies. Your efforts in this role will impact world-renowned Apple products like iPad, MacBook, and what’s next!

Minimum Qualifications

  • MS in chemistry, or BS in chemical engineering or polymer science, with 5+ years relevant adhesives industry experience

  • Excellent verbal, presentation, written communication and interpersonal skills

  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally (10%)

Key Qualifications

Preferred Qualifications

  • PhD in Chemistry; MS or PhD in chemical engineering or polymer science with 5+ years relevant adhesives industry experience

  • Track record of adhesive selection and development for products with demanding performance requirements and tight schedules

  • Prior experience in adhesive development, application, characterization, and understanding structure-property relationships

  • Proficient in optimizing surfaces for adhesion and adhesive failure analysis (bulk and interfacial)

  • Familiarity with finite element analysis simulation to assess the robustness of new product design

  • Experience in managing complex development programs with overseas vendors
