TEXAS WORKFORCE COMMISSION Manager (Hybrid) in Austin, Texas

What You Will Do: Lead a team of creative, highly skilled trainers whose role is critical to supporting the Texas Workforce Commissions mission. The Manager II performs moderately complex (journey-level) managerial work involving daily operations and activities that include establishing goals and objectives, and determining priorities; managing multiple projects; coaching and developing team members; creating and maintaining schedules; communicating and coordinating with customers and team; developing guidelines and procedures; leading team meetings and completing performance reviews; developing and evaluating budget requests, and monitoring expenditures. Will plan, assign, and supervise the work of others and work under general supervision, with limited latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment.

You Will be Trusted To: -Manage the Software and Workforce Training Team, which delivers classes in software applications and Workforce program courses. -Oversee the planning, coordination, and organization of training activities and schedules to achieve department goals. -Manage multiple projects through use of effective project management methodology and tools; meet established guidelines and project expectations. -Oversee the development of complex documents, including training curricula, PowerPoint, proposals, correspondence, and training plans, to meet department standards. -Build and maintain communication and working relationships with staff and customers to accomplish the departments goals. -Screen, interview, and hire qualified staff. -Write and conduct performance appraisals; recommend personnel actions and implement corrective actions; help create employee-improvement plans. -Represent the agency and department at conferences and meetings. -Conduct training and presentations. -Oversee operations of the department in the absence of the director. -Have the ability to work outside of normal business hours, as needed -Perform other duties and projects as assigned.

You Qualify With: -Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university plus three years of full-time experience in the development, implementation, or interpretation of policies and procedures in a public or private agency, six months of which must have been in an administrative management or supervisory capacity. -One year of full-time experience may be substituted for each year (30 semester hours) of education.

You Are a Great Fit With: -Successful project-management experience, including meeting deadlines, amid ongoing change. -Strong management experience with the ability to develop and guide a team while producing measurable results. -Software-application expertise, and experience delivering training on software. -Excellent writing skills and knowledge of accessibility best practices. -Experience developing and reviewing urricula for adult audiences. -Experience with delivering exceptional customer service to internal and external customers. -Attention to details and organization, and the ability to follow policies while completing multiple tasks. -A history of being a dependable team player who can work both independently and collaboratively.

Duty requires up to 25% travel within Texas and the ability to lift 25 pounds.
