Job/Position DescriptionDirector IVThe Immunizations Section Director works under the general direction of the Associate Commissioner for the Infectious Disease Prevention Division (IDPD). Provides leadership through the performance of highly advanced and complex (senior level) managerial work in providing direction and guidance in strategic operations and planning to the Immunization Section. Working in collaboration with division and section leadership, is responsible to establish strategic plans, goals, and objects for programs. Develops, directs, evaluates, and implements policies, processes and state work plans for immunizations to support the effective and efficient delivery of client services and improve immunization rates across the state. This position is responsible for managing a multibillion-dollar budget with multiple highly complex federal grants, spanning both state and federal fiscal years. Reviews and approves Section budgets, assuring efficient use of resources; serves as point of contact for relevant local, state and federal agencies; promotes integrated approaches to program service delivery; facilitates continuous program and process improvement to improve the effectiveness of services and/or to reduce costs; directs the development and implementation of legislative initiatives and appropriations requests; and establishes and evaluates program operation and service delivery benchmarks. Works under minimal supervision with extensive latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment. Essential Job FunctionsAttends work on a regular and predictable schedule in accordance with agency leave policy and performs other duties as assigned.(30%) Develops, directs, and evaluates statewide public health programs to prevent and control infectious diseases, including the collection and analysis of surveillance data to support and target interventions. Provides overall vision, leadership, and direction for the Immunization Section. Develops, establishes, and assures implementation of program goals and objectives. Establishes and evaluates program standards, operation, performance plans and service delivery benchmarks. Develops and oversees the implementation of long-range and short-term plans. Works with agency leadership to identify and resolve risks/issues and to develop and direct efforts to affect policy changes that will enhance client access to quality public health immunization services. Plans, implements, and administers diverse programs to meet department objectives. (20%) Oversees response to internal and external inquiries and assignments. Establishes effective processes regarding assignments. Ensures responses are accurate and timely. Reviews section responses and products to ensure quality and comprehensiveness. Reviews and approves documents to ensure professional quality and appearance, appropriate content, consistency, and responsiveness to the purpose of the document. Ensures that administrative processes are in place that support timely and quality production of documents. Ensures client services are routinely reviewed for effectiveness and efficiency in client access and reducing community barriers to care. Ensures coordination on all clinical components of the Immunization Section.
