Program Summary

This role supports various Commercial and U.S. Government programs comprising customer’s facilities, outlying buildings, as well as warehouses and manufacturing plants, with services necessary to ensure optimal performance and utilization of the facilities infrastructure, including, but not limited to, Operation & Maintenance (O&M), recapitalization, renovations, design, construction, records management, repairs to correct identified deficiencies or adverse impacts to operational capabilities, and improvements leveraging innovative and technological solutions.

Job Summary

The Facilities Engineer will support overall operations, maintenance, and performance of our customers’ sites. Will perform as an advisor leading and mentoring project teams. This role provides technical expertise to global site facilities personnel regarding troubleshooting operating issues, failures, and repairs. This is a managerial role that supports and advises a team of specialists, focusing on operational effectiveness, maintenance and reliability, safety, code adherence and environmental compliance. Additionally, this role provides engineering assistance related to remodeling, renovation, new construction, and equipment replacement projects.

This role will actively participate in project start up and commissioning related activities.

This role will support business development pursuits, including support to RFP responses, development, and proposal preparation.

This role will lead and mentor engineering teams in the planning, design and/or technical oversight of infrastructure and facility projects worldwide. Engineering duties include on-site analysis of existing conditions, project planning/scoping, development of design drawings, standards, and specifications in accordance with DoD Unified Facilities Criteria, US, and local building codes.

The ideal candidate will demonstrate effective communication skills, analytical acumen, an eye for detail, and a proven ability to make smart decisions and adhere to strict deadlines.

This role supports global 24x7 operations, which requires provision of on-call support. Your role transcends conventional limits, placing a premium on the solid availability of essential systems/missions. It is imperative that these systems/missions remain operational without interruption.

This role will support projects worldwide. Travel is estimated at about 40-60% for this position.

Roles and Responsibilities

What You’ll Do

In the role of Facilities Engineer, your duties will include:

  • Provide technical support to site operations & logistics for facilities around the world including commercial and US Government clients.

  • Support and advice on facilities operations and maintenance at each site including but not limited to engineering, central plant and chilled water systems, fire protection/life safety, security, telecommunications, conference center, cafeteria, O&M, ground services, custodial, and construction renovations.

  • Support KBR’s Intelligent Asset Management initiatives, driving best practices and operational efficiencies.

  • Provide technical oversight and direction for continuous improvement development activities of the Intelligent Asset Management products.

  • Ensure ISO55001 asset management standards are adhered to across KBR operations.

  • Support contingency, expeditionary and emergency response operations within the continental US (CONUS) & outside the continental US (OCONUS)

  • Travel to conduct reconnaissance, site surveys, technical inspections and attend business related matters. (40-60% travel)

  • Participate in equipment/material procurement, technical evaluations, permitting, and subcontracting activities.

  • Formulate operational and maintenance standards in line with company objectives, contractual requirements and environmental standards/regulations.

  • Coordinate activities to ensure smooth site operations in accordance with overarching contract requirements. .

  • Guaranteeing the continuity of critical infrastructure operations for 24/7 mission support.

  • Draft reports, business correspondence, and procedural manuals.

  • Communicate effectively with diverse teams and address design and operational challenges

  • Uphold strict adherence to environmental, health & safety, and regulatory requirements.

  • Stay informed on regulatory changes affecting facility operations and ensure compliance with contractual obligations.

Basic Qualifications

  • US Citizenship and eligibility for a Top-Secret SCI (TS/SCI) Clearance with the ability to obtain favorable adjudication for TS/SCI with polygraph.

  • Bachelor's degree in an Engineering field and a Professional Engineer (PE) license from a U.S. state.

  • At least 15 years of experience supporting commercial or U.S. Government facilities, with 10 of those years focused on mechanical or electrical engineering.

  • Availability to travel forty to sixty percent (40-60%) of the time to CONUS & OCONUS locations.

  • Experience in operations management, construction/renovation projects.

  • Knowledge in Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing (MEP) concepts and operations

  • Expertise in building automation systems, HVAC, utilities, and other facility related systems.

  • Experience with Power Plant design/high voltage system operations.

  • Knowledge of general electrical generation procedures, area lighting, power distribution, grounding, panel schedule, connection diagrams, conduit schedules and routing plans

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working in 24x7x365 mission critical environments where continuous availability of facility infrastructure is crucial.

  • Experience planning and executing large-scale facility and logistics projects.

  • Ability to read construction, design, and equipment drawings.

  • Proficiency in project management concepts including managing project schedule, scope, cost, risk, performance, and deliverables

  • Experience with Federal Acquisition Regulations (FAR)

  • Experience with DoD & DoS classified and unclassified Facility Policies supporting government contracts

  • Knowledge of Asset Lifecycle Management, including maintenance, reliability, capital planning, project management, risk management, energy, and sustainability.

  • Experience with ISO 55000 standards or obtaining ISO 55001 certification.

  • Experience with process improvement models such as LEAN/Six Sigma or ISO 9000
