Job/Position DescriptionThe EMS Licensing and Permit Specialist will perform complex licensing work. Receives, processes, and analyzes applications and supplemental documentation relating to EMS licensing and certification of EMS personnel, educators, providers and first responders. Ensuring applicants followapplicable policies, rules, and laws. Work involves receiving, reviewing, approving, and entering applications into data systems; communicating with applicants; creating correspondence; and providing technical assistance to customers, applicants, the public, and internal staff concerning EMS licensing. Works under moderate supervision and latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment reporting to the EMS licensing unit manager. PLEASE NOTE: The posted salary range is the full range for this position. Agency salary policy, budget and candidateand#146;s qualifications will dictate final salary offer. Typically, salary offers are at or near the midpoint of the range, depending on qualifications or other factors. This position is eligible to telework on a part-time basis (up to 4 days per week). Selected candidate must have the ability to provide a reliable internet service in a home office location free from distractions that will provide the ability to ensure confidentiality of work product.Essential Job FunctionsAttends work on a regular and predictable schedule in accordance with agency leave policy and performs other duties as assigned. This position may be eligible for some telework from within Texas depending on the unitand#146;s needs.Licensing: Receives, processes, and analyzes applications and supplemental documentation. Informs applicants of application deficiencies, if any. Approves or denies license applications based on state agency policies, procedures, rules, and laws. Entering license and applications, payments,and required technical data for licenses into appropriate computer applications, databases, and systems. (45%)Customer Service: Assist customers with application and account issues.Communicate and provide interpretations of licensing requirements,eligibility requirements, and other information to applicants, licensees,stakeholders, the public, and agency staff by telephone, email, and written.correspondence. (30%) Other Duties: Prepare and distribute license certificates to licensees. Filesand archives documents in accordance with unit and agency policies.Prepares reports as required. Attends required meetings and trainings.Carries out other duties as assigned including but are not limited to actively participating and/or serving in a supporting role to meet the agencyand#146;s obligations for disaster response and/or recovery or Continuity of Operations. Such participation may require an alternate shift pattern assignment and/or location. May travel for functions outside of the work location. (25%)Registrations, Licensure Requirements or CertificationsMust possess a valid Class C Texas driverand#146;s license, or equivalent license from another state.
