Job Title: Electrical Technician

Job Description

We are looking for an Electrical Technician with full knowledge of instrumentation such as pressure, temperature, and flow measurement devices. The ideal candidate should be well-versed in all types of signal I/O such as analog-to-digital conversion, voltage signals (e.g., 0-5V and 0-10V) and current signals (e.g., 0-20mA and 4-20mA), and loop diagrams. Basic knowledge of PLCs and single-board computers is also required. You will perform electronic assembly startup, calibration, functional, and safety testing on electrical and electronic systems for subsea vehicles, as well as support and test equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Assemble and install new electrical and electronic assemblies, wire harnesses, and other electrical equipment from electrical schematics and component layout diagrams.

  • Maintain, troubleshoot, calibrate, and repair existing electrical and electronic assemblies.

  • Assist in subsea vehicle testing and maintenance.

  • Maintain a tidy work environment and adhere to industry regulations.

  • Travel occasionally to support field repair of deployed subsea vehicles (anticipated to be less than 20% of the time).

Essential Skills

  • Minimum of five to seven (5 to 7) years working as an instrument electrical technician.

  • Extensive knowledge of electrical power and control systems.

  • Ability to read and understand electrical drawings, schematics, and installation/instruction manuals.

  • Proficient with test equipment such as multimeters, process meters, and oscilloscopes.

  • Ability to understand and troubleshoot serial and other communications such as RS232, CANbus, and Ethernet.

  • Familiarity with single-board computers, PLCs, and analog and digital input/output (I/O) modules.

  • Familiarity with instrumentation such as pressure and temperature sensors.

  • Experience in underwater vehicle production and repair, such as AUVs or ROVs, is preferred.

  • Ability to create sketches of cable assemblies or circuits as well as provide mark-ups to existing schematics.

  • Ability to assist with preparing documentation such as assembly procedures and safety standards.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience in heavy industrial environments is preferred.

  • Familiarity with assembling, documenting, and adhering to quality standards.

  • Light integration of cable box install into the robots.

  • Ability to read wire tags.

  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and blueprints/wiring schematics.
