Transportation Engineer III:Performs advanced and complex transportation engineering work in one or more functional areas such as planning, project development and design, construction, transportation/traffic operations and/or maintenance. Ensures compliance with applicable federal and state laws, policies, procedures, standards and guidelines. Work requires contact with governmental officials and private entities. Employees at this level establish their own work plan and priorities to meet set objectives. Issues are rarely referred to the supervisor but are handled at the occurrence.Transportation Engineer IV:Performs highly advanced and complex transportation engineering work in one or more functional areas such as planning, project development and design, construction, transportation/traffic operations and/or maintenance. Ensures compliance with applicable federal and state laws, policies, procedures, standards and guidelines. Work requires contact with governmental officials and private entities. Employees at this level are virtually self-supervising and assume direct accountability for the work product.Essential Duties:Transportation Engineer III: Evaluates and makes recommendations for developing, monitoring, and updating integrated project plans and schedules so that projects may be executed in the most efficient and effective manner possible.Performs advanced and complex planning work such as plan review, calculations and transportation planning studies.Provides planning and engineering support for districts in project development.Provides technical assistance for the development of urban and rural transportation corridors.Reviews and supports Standard Operating Procedures for maintaining and archiving project schedules; managing resources; managing budgets; managing project changes, and managing quality performance measurements.Coordinates and/or monitors assigned projects/programs/plans.Makes presentations and represents TxDOT.Monitors contract performance, evaluates contract deliverables, reviews billing documentation, monitors the consultant's compliance with the terms of the contract, and/or prepares and delivers a written evaluation of the consultant's performance.Negotiates fees and budgets, develops and negotiates scopes of work, negotiates contract work schedules, and negotiates other contract agreements.Serves as primary help desk resources for highly complex and advanced technical and policy issues. Transportation Engineer IV All the Above and:Performs highly advanced and complex planning work such as plan review, calculations and transportation planning studies.Develops short-term and long-term goals and coordinates planning activities and resources required to meet goals.
