Insight Global Director Hardware Engineering in Austin, Texas
Job Description
This position is responsible for North American Engineering factory support, mechanical site leadership, regulatory engineering, technical documentation and hardware quality assurance. The Hardware Engineering Director will have regional responsibilities overseeing the above capabilities for North America market and will report directly to the Sr Director of Engineering. The successful candidate will both contribute to product design and lead the design team. This position will be based in our Austin, Texas campus
Key Responsibilities:
· Oversee planning and execution of all operational aspects of the functions listed above.
· Must be a leader and motivator with a clear understanding of market requirements, industry, and the challenges of a product development organization in a changing business environment.
· Define functional goals and strategic plans for the department and team while aligning with corporate policies and business objectives in a way that maximizes the overall customer experience.
· Develop and lead initiatives to ensure continuous improvement in operating processes across the department and the organization including establishing best practices that will provide a competitive advantage through NPI, Sustaining Product Support, Lifecycle Data Management, etc.
· Drive a culture of root cause analysis and collaboration with other teams to drive appropriate corrective actions regardless of where the problems lie; hold team accountable to use hard data and metrics to support assumptions.
· Ensure issues are identified, tracked, escalated, and resolved appropriately.
· Develop effective and sustainable partnerships with all key stakeholders in support of quality performance metrics through benchmarking, assessments, and best practices.
· Work collaboratively with Product Management, Program Management, Operations, Services and Sales teams to provide information regarding defects, field issues, quality issues, and sustaining issues.
· Develop KPIs to demonstrate and improve team efficiency and product quality and time-to-market.
· Identify innovation ideas and spot cost reduction potentials in Manufacturing.
· Lead the team to drive a culture of planning, including, but not limited to, creation of detailed milestone and resource planning for all projects.
· Maintain department planning related to overhead, issue resolution, legacy support, NPD.
· Manage reporting demands that include weekly highlights report.
· Recruit, develop, and retain a world-class team.
· Coach and mentor managers and oversee team's professional growth.
· Engage on special assignments as required.

Skills and Requirements
· Bachelors degree in Mechanical/Mechatronics Engineering with a minimum 12 years of experience or equivalent combination of education & experience and out of which minimum 6 years in people management.
· Proficiency in SolidWorks CAD, PDM and ERP systems.
· Practical experience in the following:
Fabricated and formed sheet metal parts.
Fluid handling components made from cast metal (sand cast, die cast aluminum and grey iron).
Injection molded plastic and elastomeric parts.
Machined aluminum, steel, and plastic parts.
· Working understanding of applicable regulations.
· Multidisciplinary engineering knowledge.
· Experience working in a manufacturing environment.
· Demonstrated effective leadership, results oriented, entrepreneurial spirit, and strong work ethic.
· Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with changing priorities.
· Ability to influence others, regardless of reporting authority.
· Excellent analysis and problem-solving skills. null
