Our engineers develop and operate Apple’s relational database service hosting PostgreSQL databases that power some of Apple’s most important workloads in Services, Manufacturing, AIML and many more. You will be joining a team of engineers working at the groundbreaking of modern database deployment architectures and running distributed systems at a very large scale. Developers on our team are responsible for ensuring that our database services are completely API-driven, reliable, efficient and resilient with a high degree of auto-remediation ensuring high availability and durability

Description

The team is responsible for developing highly reliable and API driven micro-services to maintain and run the lifecycle of PostgreSQL databases at Apple, while ensuring a high level of observability and adaptability for our customers. Maintaining and improving monitoring and alerting is equally important for the role. Understanding of core reliability concepts - observability, monitoring, alerting, fault tolerance, auto-remediation would help to be successful in the role. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES: Automation Development: Develop and maintain tools to streamline database management tasks and performance tuning. Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment (CI/CD): Integrate database management tasks into CI/CD pipelines to ensure smooth and automated deployments. Monitoring and Alerting: Implement automated monitoring and alerting systems to proactively identify and address issues within PostgreSQL databases with options for Self-Healing

Minimum Qualifications

  • Experience building highly available software services or platform infrastructure

  • Experience in designing, building, and maintaining API-driven service

  • Proficient in Python or Go

  • Relational database fundamental concepts

Key Qualifications

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience building and interacting with Cloud APIs for AWS and GCP

  • Good understanding of PostgreSQL internals

  • Experience with Java/Kotlin/C/C++ will be an advantage

  • SRE experience supporting PaaS or DBaaS.
